In addition to his roles as a popular comedian and game show host, Steve Harvey is a father of seven children.
Steve credits his family for his successful career and says his children are his main motivation to continue working hard.
“Family is my reason for this,” he once said People Magazine. “I’m working on leaving a legacy, hopefully [make] the world a better place for them.”
Steve has been married three times, but according to his current wife, there is nothing but harmony in his blended family.
“When you’re dealing with a blended family, everyone is broken,” Marjorie Harvey said People in 2016 when he explained Steve’s decision to adopt her children from a previous relationship.
“We knew it was right. Now we are mom and dad to everyone.”
Steve Harvey’s children: who are they?
Steve’s oldest children, twin girls, Brandi and Karli40, and son Broderick Harvey Jr., 31, come from his first marriage.
(Yes, that’s right. You probably didn’t know that Steve’s real first name is Broderick!)
Steve was working as an insurance agent when he became a father. After winning money at a stand-up competition, he decided to quit his job to focus on comedy.
“Years later they said to me, ‘Dad, we didn’t understand why you left us, but now we know you had to leave,'” Steve once said People.
“‘You weren’t just one of us. You belonged to the world.’ That was emotional for me.”
Steve’s fourth child, Wynton Brycelon Ali Harvey26, was a product of his marriage to his second wife, Mary Shackelford.
Steve and Mary divorced in 2005 after nine years of marriage.
The Harvey family is growing
In 2007, Steve married Marjorie Harvey and adopted their three children, Morgan Hawthorne38, Jason Harvey, 31, and Lori Harvey, 27.
Lori has launched a successful career as a model and influencer.
Not only has she walked the runway for such prestigious fashion labels as Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry, but she has also amassed a huge following on social media, with more than 5 million followers on Instagram alone.
But while Lori is the child who most clearly follows in her father’s footsteps, we’re sure Steve is equally proud of all of his children.
Over the years, the Harveys have earned a reputation as a happy, close-knit clan.
And the path to this life began when Steve quit his job to try to build a better life for his family.
It’s a risk that paid off!
