• The production stop affects two factories in France and one in Great Britain.
  • The vehicles produced at the three locations include the DS 3, the Peugeot Expert, the Citroen Jumper and the Opel Vivaro.
  • Stellantis also faces the possibility of having to pause some U.S. production.

Stellantis was forced to halt production at three of its plants in Europe due to a strike at a factory owned by MA France, a supplier of stamped metal parts.

Employees at the MA France factory are concerned about plans to move production to Poland. The company currently operates at a location that was used by PSA until 2014. In a statement, a Stellantis spokesperson said the company was forced to suspend operations at two of its plants in Poissy and Hordain in France, as well as a British plant in Luton, United Kingdom.

“There has been a production stop at three locations since the beginning of the week,” said the spokesman Reuters.

Stellantis hopes that production can resume soon, as discussions are already underway at the MA France factory. The car manufacturer’s plant in Poissy produces the DS 3 and the Opel Mokka, while the Hordain site builds commercial vehicles such as the Peugeot Expert, the Citroen Jump and the Opel Vivaro. Stellantis also builds commercial vehicles at its Luton site and will produce medium-sized electric vans for Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot and Fiat Professional from next year.

This isn’t the only production glitch that Stellantis finds itself in. Earlier this week it was revealed that the company will continue to have to pay a supplier of gears and pinions for the brand’s transmissions called MacLean-Fogg for supplies, despite a price dispute. If it doesn’t pay, MacLean-Fogg may stop supplying parts and Stellantis could be forced to close its plants in Kokomo, Indiana.

Stellantis agreed in March under protest to pay MacLean-Fogg $1.4 million after the supplier shut down transmission plants by withholding parts. A lawyer for the supplier recently revealed that this payment was never made and that Stellantis was instead suing the supplier.
