Salman Khan has had his fair share of ladies, but his affair with Aishwarya Rai is still the talk of the town. The duo were madly in love in the late 90s. However, their paths parted ugly, with much media attention and a blame game. While Aishwarya accused the actor of physically abusing her, Salman continued to deny the allegation and never really spoke in the media about the actual reason behind their breakup. Salman Khan had immediately asked Sanjay Leela Bhansali not to touch Aishwarya Rai
Famous veteran actress Smita Jaykar, who played Aishwarya Rai’s mother in the film, We have lost our hearts, my dears, spoke about Salman’s affair. As reported by Filmi Beat, Smita shared in an old video that Salman and Aishwarya’s love blossomed on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, it was revealed during the filming of the film, which worked in her favor. She said:
“At that time, their love story had just begun, it was blossoming there, so she showed herself and it worked very well for the film.”

Furthermore, Smita also revealed that while shooting one of the songs of the film, Salman had immediately asked Sanjay not to touch his then girlfriend Aishwarya as the director was narrating the scene to the then couple. She was quoted as saying:
“I remembered a scene from the song Aankhon Ki Gustakhiya where Salman had to walk all the way around while Ash was standing next to me, so Sanjay went and touched her (Ash) like that, he (Salman) went and said Sanjay sir Why did you touch her, you can’t do that, you know how you feel in new love, it was that whole feeling. Her eyes were always ringing, we watched her, we were observers.
When Salman was not happy with Aishwarya leaving him behind in the film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Salman once made it clear in a media interaction that he was not happy with the ending of his superhit film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The superstar shared that if Nandini had done the film, she would have chosen the man she loved and left her husband. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted the film to have a depressing ending. He said:
“I didn’t agree with the ending of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Sanjay Bhansali told me he wanted a depressive high. But honestly, I feel like love is above all traditions. But if you make a traditional film then (curse Nandini (Aishwarya) should have left her husband and gone with the man she loved (Salman) for what he had done, like God. I would have let her go with the man leave the one she loved.
When Aishwarya Rai revealed that Salman Khan had physically abused her
Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai had a lovely relationship until their relationship got strained. In 2001, Salman was reportedly seen knocking on the doors of Aishwarya’s house and begging her to let him in. There were speculations that the actor wanted to propose to Aishwarya but she was not prepared for it. In 2002, Salman and Aishwarya parted ways. While Salman shared that it was a typical argument in a relationship, Aishwarya made shocking allegations and claimed that the actor had physically abused her.
