Salma Hayek Celebrates Her Anniversary with Rare Wedding Photos

Salma Hayek celebrates her “soulmate” on her 15th wedding anniversary.

The 57-year-old actress officially tied the knot with 61-year-old French businessman François-Henri Pinault in an intimate courthouse ceremony on Valentine’s Day 2009, but the couple celebrated their nuptials in 2009 with a lavish wedding in Venice, Italy in April of that year.

“There are no words to describe the blessing of finding your soulmate,” she captioned an Instagram carousel Thursday featuring a collection of rare photos from the celebratory occasion. “To everyone who found it, never take it for granted. To anyone who hasn’t found it, #tbt never give up on one of the best days of my life.”

Hayek highlights her stunning glamor in a snapshot shot, followed by a black-and-white image of two wedding dresses hanging on a clothing rack. In a third shot, she and Pinault smile sweetly at each other as he puts a ring on her finger during their wedding ceremony.

When they tied the knot, Hayek and Pinault were already parents to their now 16-year-old daughter Valentina.

Last year, Hayek admitted she “didn’t even know” she would be getting married in court on her wedding day, describing it as an “intervention” from her family.

“I had a phobia about the marriage thing,” Hayek said Shine’s cover story from February 2023.

“I didn’t even know I was getting married that day. It was like an intervention,” she continued. “They just took me to court. My parents, my brother, they all ganged up against me.”

The wonderfully unfiltered star elaborated that her court wedding wasn’t made out of a desire for simplicity. “The reason it was a courthouse wedding was because they dragged me there,” she explained. “I was nervous. And then there was lunch at his parents’ house. My mother-in-law, who is the most tasteful person when it comes to entertaining, had already arranged lunch. I had no choice.”

Hayek later told the story in an episode of The Kelly Clarkson ShowShe went on to say she has since married Pinault four times.

“I’ve never been divorced before,” she told the audience, explaining that after overcoming her initial fear, she continued to be inspired by new wedding ideas.

“After that I thought, ‘OK, I kind of like that I’m married now. I want to celebrate!’” she said. However, after the first party, Hayek said that she and Pinault held a third party because she didn’t like the cake at the second one. For the fourth time, her family surprised the couple by returning to the site of the third ceremony so that they could get married surrounded by their loved ones.

The beloved actress celebrated her 57th birthday in September and celebrated the occasion with some stunning, jaw-dropping bikini snaps on the beach.

I spoke to ET at the timeHayek attributed her magical fountain of youth to “meditation.”

“I really believe that. People say it’s sport. I think it’s meditation,” she shared. “You have to find your way. For me, sport is hard… It’s really, really difficult to have the discipline for it. But meditation is a walk in the park because it is my own form of it.”

“You sit with yourself for a moment, that’s meditation,” she added. “But I do it every day.”
