When Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day played two guys who looked remarkably similar to Beavis and Butt-Head in one Saturday Night Live When they created a skit earlier this month, they had no idea the viral sensation the skit would create.
Furthering the incredible surprise of this ridiculous skit, Day made a surprise appearance – while Gosling worked some transformation magic – at the red carpet premiere of The Guy case on Tuesday. The couple surprised those in attendance by rocking their Beavis and Butt-Head costumes at the star-studded event.
According to Gosling walked the carpet in a stunning mint green suit – looking as stylish and handsome as ever – he turned and walked the carpet again, this time side by side with Day, in full costume and makeup.
Gosling wore a powder blue shirt that read “Death Rocks” and black cargo shorts – a perfect match for Beavis’ ensemble from the iconic ’90s MTV cartoon.
Meanwhile, Day mirrored Butt-Head with a dark gray T-shirt that simply said “Skull” and red shorts with high socks and black sneakers.
In the now infamous SNL sketchGosling and Day play two men who attend a public lecture on artificial intelligence but keep distracting the lecturer (Kenan Thompson) due to their resemblance to the cartoon characters – although both men claimed to be completely unfamiliar with the series.
The skit was highlighted by the excellent makeup and costumes, but what really made it a hit with fans was the way it was executed Gosling and Day made every other actor break character by laughing – especially Heidi Gardner, who burst out laughing and couldn’t contain herself when she saw Day as Butt-Head for the first time.
An aspect of Goslings three times like that SNL Host who really seemed to resonate with fans is the actor’s inability to keep track and stop him from bursting out laughing. Every time he hosts, his boisterous giggles are almost guaranteed.
Denny Direct from ET spoke to Gosling’s co-star Emily Blunt at Tuesday’s premiereand the actress said he brought the same vibe and energy to the set of The Guy case as well as.
“Yeah, I mean, I think we’re both really weak in that way,” Blunt said. “I don’t know if we can keep this together.”
“But I like working with people like that,” she added. “It’s more fun.”
The Guy case – starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer and Stephanie Hsu – hits theaters on May 3rd.
