Ron Goldman’s Family Reacts to OJ Simpson’s Death

The family of the late Ron Goldman is speaking out after news broke OJ Simpson’s death.

In a statement to ET, Ron’s father Fred reacted to the news of the former NFL pro’s death.

“This is a reminder of how long Ron and Nicole have been gone and missing. It’s not about the murderer, it’s about the victims,” ​​Fred Goldman said in a statement to ET on behalf of himself and his wife Patti Goldman.

Ron’s sister Kim also spoke out in a statement following OJ’s death.

“The news of Ron’s murderer’s death is a mix of complicated emotions and reminds us that the journey through grief is not linear,” she said in a statement to ET. “For three decades, we have worked tirelessly to seek justice for Ron and Nicole, despite a civil verdict and his confession If I had done ithope for real accountability has ended.”

The statement continued: “We will continue to advocate for the rights of all victims and survivors and ensure our voices are heard both inside and outside the courtroom. In 1994, Simpson stood trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman after they were found murdered in Nicole’s home. During the trial, Simpson was represented by the “dream team,” which included attorneys Johnnie Cochran, Robert Kardashian, F. Lee Bailey and Robert Shapiro. They went after lead prosecutor Marcia Clark, and on October 3, 1995, Simpson was found not guilty of both murders.

Following the acquittal, Simpson was unanimously found liable for the wrongful death of Goldman, the assault against Goldman, and the assault against Brown.

Fred Goldman and other family members were present in the courtroom during the highly publicized trial.

Simpson, whose full name was Orenthal James Simpson, died on Wednesday of complications from cancer. He was 76 years old. News of his death was spread through a joint statement by his children on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“On April 10, our father Orenthal James Simpson succumbed to his battle with cancer,” the statement said. “He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you respect their desire for privacy and grace.”

Hall of Fame President Jim Porter remembered Simpson, who also had an illustrious career in professional football, as he reflected on his record-setting career during his time with the Buffalo Bills.

“OJ Simpson became the first player to reach a rushing mark that many thought could not be achieved in a 14-game season when he surpassed 2,000 yards,” Porter said in the statement. “His field contributions are preserved at the Hall Archives in Canton, Ohio.”
