Staying boldly true to this year’s theme of “Sleeping Beauty: Fashion Resurgent,” Ora, 33, wore a near-nude look by Marni with nude full-body shapewear, over which hung the outfit’s centerpiece: a draped beaded piece from the singer’s cleavage up to her feet. The beads are available in various shades of black, pink, orange, turquoise and white.
“Hi guys, I’m wearing a necklace to the MET this year,” Ora joked to ET’s Rachel Smith as she climbed the famous stairs.
Elaborating on her inspiration behind the dress, Ora shared that the dress is meant to represent “the beauty of the body and the existence and presence of women.” She continues: “[It’s about] Not doing so much, but also doing a lot, you know what I mean? And these beads actually date back to the second century BC.”
Ora says she doesn’t have another outfit to change into when she enters the museum, joking that she “didn’t even think about the bathroom, so that’s it.”
Her husband, 48, opted for something more covered up but equally remarkable: a brown leather suit from Marni, complete with leather tie and gloves.
The couple did it their Met Gala debut as a couple in September 2021a few months after they first sparked romance rumors in April 2021.
She made their official red carpet debut a month earlier in August 2021 at the premiere of Suicide Squad. Then, Engagement rumors began simmering in June 2022 after dating for more than a year.
It was during her promotional tour for the premiere of her single “You Only Love Me” that the singer confirmed that she and Taika tied the knot in August 2022. At an appearance on Heart Radio BreakfastRita told listeners that she was “officially off the market” and described her wedding day as “perfect” and “special.”
“I chose to keep it more private and keep it more to myself, but with my new video I’m playing on what could have been,” she added.
This marriage is the first for Rita, who has previously dated the likes of Bruno Mars, Rob Kardashian and Calvin Harris. It is Taika’s second marriage as he was married to Chelsea Winstanley from 2011 to 2018. The former couple have two children together, Matewa Kiritapu and Te Hinekāhu.
The singer previously remained tight-lipped when asked about the wedding rumors, but didn’t miss an opportunity to gush about her partner.
