Prince Harry will not visit his ailing father King Charles on his trip to Britain this week.
And not because he doesn’t want to!
Apparently the king is too busy to make time for his youngest son.
…Unpleasant!
Prince Harry will not see his father King Charles in London due to Monarch’s “busy” schedule
When King Charles announced in February that he was battling cancer, within a week Harry was on a plane from America to visit his father. Their visit was short, with Harry only staying in the country for 24 hours before departing.
On May 8th, Harry returns to his birth country to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
It seemed like the perfect opportunity to reconnect with his royal family, as he hasn’t seen his father since his last trip and hasn’t traveled to the UK since Kate Middleton announced her own cancer diagnosis.
However, it sounds like no one has time for Harry at the moment – literally.
“In response to the many inquiries and ongoing speculation as to whether or not the Duke will meet his father in the UK this week, unfortunately this will not be possible due to His Majesty’s busy schedule,” a spokesman for Harry said The post before Harry’s visit.
The King’s schedule includes his weekly audience with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Buckingham Palace’s first garden party of the season.
Prince Harry is insulted by his father on a solo trip through Great Britain
It’s really a shame to hear that Harry won’t be seeing his father given his health condition. Harry could also have used some family time since he had made the trip to London alone.
Meghan Markle and her two young children Archie and Lilibeth stayed behind in California.
Still, Harry tries to save face.
“The Duke is of course understanding of his father’s busy schedule with his commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him again soon.”
As for Harry’s commitments, he is expected to give a reading at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8 to mark the first Invictus Games, held a decade earlier. As before, he will stay in a hotel and not in a royal residence.
Kate Middleton and Prince William are “going through hell”
Prince Harry will also not see his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton on this trip. He has not seen his only brother and this part of the family for over a year as tensions between the two families remain high.
Plus, it’s clear that Kate and William are going through what they’re going through and extra drama is the last thing they need, so to speak.
A few days before Harry’s arrival, designer Amaia Arrieta made some seemingly casual comments about the royal couple while speaking to the British royal family Daily Telegraph.
“I’m heartbroken right now,” Arrieta said. “I think they’re going through hell.”
Arrieta added: “I hope they come back. It’s really personal.”
This paints a bleak picture of William and Kate
Most assume Arrieta is referring to the state of the Prince and Princess of Wales as the latter are undergoing cancer treatment.
In January, surgeons discovered signs of cancer in Kate’s stomach. Despite her status as a taxpayer-funded national symbol, many details of her diagnosis remain secret. For months, the royals kept her cancer completely a secret, claiming she was simply recovering from surgery.
Now, thanks in part to a colossal PR blunder by the royals, everyone knows about Kate’s condition. Like her father-in-law, she is suffering from cancer but is striving for a full recovery. We hope she does.
Some have interpreted Arrieta’s statement as a reference to William and Kate’s marital problems.
From the Prince of Pegging’s alleged affairs to the alarming statistics about men leaving women with cancer, there has been much speculation about the state of their royal marriage.
It’s possible that Kate’s cancer diagnosis brought other marital problems to the forefront, or at least coincided with them. However, Occam’s Razor suggests that Arrieta is referring to Kate’s cancer crisis. Surely that’s enough “hell” for anyone.
Will the royal company be angry with Amaia Arrieta?
In general, Kensington Palace maintains strict standards regarding any comments anyone with access to the royal family might make to the press. Typically that means negative stories about Meghan Markle are allowed, but everything else must remain under wraps.
However, historically, the royal family has shown tremendous latitude when it comes to wardrobe. There was a time when Angela Kelly was practically Queen Elizabeth’s personal gatekeeper.
Arrieta’s relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales is expected to endure.
