NBCUniversal’s Peacock will increase its prices by $2 this summer The Hollywood Reporter On Monday. The price change is set to take effect for new customers on July 18, just a week before the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. If you just want to stream the Olympics, Peacock is for you the largest coverageand you can schedule it to save a few bucks.
For new customers, the price of Peacock Premium will rise from $5.99 to $7.99 per month on July 18, while Premium Plus will rise from $11.99 to $13.99. For existing subscribers, the price change will not take effect until August 17th. It is the latest price increase in one unfortunate series of streaming price increases. However, if you just want to stream the Summer Olympics, there is a small window where you can still stream the event for the original price of $5.99.
If you purchase Peacock Premium between July 12th and July 17th, you can still stream the entire Olympics for the original price of $5.99. Remember to cancel the subscription after the closing ceremony. The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will take place from July 26th to August 11th and will end shortly before the price increase takes effect. If you buy the streaming service before July 12th, you will have to pay for more than a month, while if you buy after July 17th, you will have to pay the price of $7.99.
Granted, Peacock Premium has ads, but none VPN to stream the event$5.99 for two weeks of 24/7 Olympic coverage isn’t a bad deal. This is especially true when compared to alternative streaming options that will broadcast the 2024 Olympics. Hulu + Live TV (with ads) shows the events, but costs $76.99 per month. YouTube TV will also have it, but that costs about $72.99 per month.
As for casual Peacock subscribers, you’re out of luck. The streaming service wants to get even more out of you. Comcast revealed that Peacock Added 3 million paid subscribers in recent months last week during earnings. The company believes these price increases will not deter customers.
There will likely be further price increases throughout 2024, which will continue through the end of 2023, among other practices to put pressure on subscribers. Max and Disney recently followed Netflix’s script take action against the sharing of passwords. Basically all streamers are getting too big. Instead of growing their subscriber base, they are just trying to get you to pay more for the service while spending less.
