Pauly Shore pleads to present his case Richard Simmons In an upcoming biopic, the workout guru expressed his disapproval of the casting and the project.
Posted in a message via X On Wednesday, April 24, Simmons, 75, wrote, “I just read that a man I don’t know is writing my biopic starring Pauly Shore. I do not agree [of] this movie. I’m in talks with major studios to create my own biopic with some help. Wait for this movie.”
In response, Shore, 56, issued a lengthy statement on Instagram.
“Guys, I cried all night over Richard Simmons’ tweet. Richard, why don’t you like this film? “I mean really, who better to play you in a movie than ME?” Shore began. “Leonardo DicaprioI won’t play you. Brad PittI won’t play you. I am perfect. Everyone already thinks I’m you. We’re the same. Beautiful inside and out.”
He continued, “Richard, you haven’t even heard the pitch. Why don’t you just let me come to your house, bring you warm matzo ball soup and a Canters dark mustard pastrami sandwich, rub your feet and we can listen to the writer, Jordan Allen DuttonAre you criticizing our idea?”
(Allen-Dutton was announced as the writer of the untitled feature film earlier this week, per deadline. The Wolper Organization, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., is also involved in the project.)
Call them Sweat to the oldies Shore was the creator’s “old buddy” and noted that they “used to hang out together,” and further explained why he believes he is the best choice to follow in Simmons’ footsteps.
“Richard, you will love our film,” he added. “We will create the most beautiful cinematic masterpiece that will honor you in a way that will make you fall to your knees and cry with joy and happiness.”
Shortly after Shore’s statement was released, Simmons gave an update via Facebook on Friday, April 26, about the journey toward creating his own biopic.
“Wow! I just received my fourth offer from studios wanting to work with me on my biopic,” he wrote. “I have so many ideas in my head. I’m writing the outline now. Wish me luck!”
Shore previously played the role of Simmons in the short film directed by Jake Lewis. The court jesterwhich premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
“I am he”, the Encino man Actor told Weekly entertainment before the film’s premiere. “I like helping people. I like health. I like putting that energy out there.”
“Richard and I do not support this project,” said Simmons’ spokesman Entertainment tonight as answer to The court jester. “It’s not authorized. I spoke to Pauly last year and told him [Richard] is not ready to tell his story.”
A representative for Simmons declined to comment.
