Pakistan on Monday (May 6) unveiled their jersey for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee tournament is scheduled to take place from June 1st to 29th in the United States of America and the Caribbean.
With less than a month left until the start of the highly anticipated World Cup, Pakistan have released the jersey they will wear during the competition. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released a video in which captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and others can be seen wearing the new jersey.
The new Pakistan jersey is called the Matrix jersey. PCB released the video with the caption, βLapait khud per watan ka parcham, baja de danka, macha de shoor,β which roughly translates to βwearing the national color and making noise.β

Pakistan hopes that the new jersey will also change their fortunes and put them at the forefront of the upcoming T20 World Cup. The last few months have been very tough for Pakistan cricket. It all started with their disappointing participation in the Asian Cup. An ODI World Cup league exit followed before Babar Azam was sacked as captain in all three formats.
Under new Test captain Shan Masood, Pakistan were whitewashed in the three-match Test series in Australia. This was followed by a 4-1 defeat against New Zealand in T20Is under new T20I captain Shaheen Afridi. Recently, Babar Azam was re-appointed Pakistan T20I captain and began his new tenure with a 2-2 draw in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home.
Pakistan’s strong contenders for the T20 World Cup:
Even though Pakistan haven’t really managed to impress recently, they will be one of the strong contenders for the 2024 T20 World Cup. In the last edition of the tournament, the Men in Green qualified for the final before losing the title decider to Pakistan against England. They will try to go all the way this year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is yet to announce their squad for the World Cup. Before the World Cup, they will play the T20I series against Ireland and England this month. They will play three T20Is against Ireland and four against England. They are scheduled to begin their campaign at the World Cup on June 6.
