Orlando Bloom wasn’t afraid of heights, but now he might be.
At an appearance on Wednesday Late Night with Seth MeyersBloom spoke about the skydiving incident he had while filming his new show. Orlando Bloom: To the Edgeand the time he broke his back after falling out of a window.
In Bloom’s three-part adventure show, he takes part in death-defying activities such as free climbing and skydiving. This applies to the latter Pirates of the Caribbean Star was afraid for his life.
“The whole thing was like a pressure cooker,” he said. “I’m amazed I’m still alive.”
The clip showed Bloom, 47, flying in a wingsuit about five miles over the ocean before landing on Pismo Beach in California.
“It makes my heart skip a beat every time,” he said after watching the video. “I have to say, I’m thinking, ‘I can’t believe I did that.'”
But not everything went smoothly.
“There’s another clip where I just love eating it,” Bloom laughed. “And then I stand up and say, ‘Did I worry you then?'”
However, on Bloom’s seventh jump, his right lever stopped working.
“I jump out, I come down and I take the shot… And it didn’t work,” he explained. “So I look up and it seems like it’s stuck in a row, right? And I think, ‘I’m not going to be able to land that.'”
Following protocol, he cut one of his parachutes free, allowing his second parachute to open and he to land safely.
“There’s a guy in the middle of the field, and he thought there was a body out there,” Bloom said as he went to retrieve the parachute, now more grateful to be alive.
Meanwhile, Bloom’s fiancé Katy PerryHe supports his crazy stunts.
“In a world full of AI/deepfakin/greenscreening/vfxing/stuntdoublin etc etc my heroic baby daddy @orlandobloom does it all and REALLY,” she wrote Instagram joint carousel post with video clips of the show and photos of her and Bloom. “If you haven’t seen #OnTheEdge on @peacock yet, buckle up, grab a ginger ale (like me!) and stream it now…”
Apart from that, that is American idol The judge would be much more impressed if Bloom simply kept the house tidy.

This isn’t the first time 39-year-old Perry Bloom has been blunt about not having to try hard to impress her.
“I can’t stop him and I just want to tell him, ‘Honey, I’m impressed and proud of you,'” she said said ET last month, looking directly into the camera. “I’m so impressed with you. Please don’t ever do that again. If this was just to impress me, you did it. Now stop.”
Although Perry is proud of Bloom, that doesn’t stop her from worrying about his safety.
“Every time he called me, I thanked God,” Perry told ET about Bloom’s time filming. “Ultimately, he calls me when these things get shot. It was like, ‘There she is! That’s his number.’”
Still, Bloom is grateful for Perry’s support.
“It’s so encouraging…we’re both cheerleaders for each other, I think,” Bloom said ET by Perry before the release of his show. “She definitely pushes me to be the best version of myself and we both hold each other accountable as best we can.”
But skydiving wasn’t the first time the actor tested his limits. Bloom recalled another life-threatening situation he experienced long before the show – a near-fatal fall. When he was 19, he broke his back after attempting to jump across a rooftop terrace. He fell three stories to a balcony with iron railings.
However, these risk scenarios will not affect how he tells his children Daisy and Flynn to take risks.
“Of course I wouldn’t encourage anyone to do something like that,” he said. “But like, ‘Which version of yourself are you pushing?'”
