The fourth generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will be officially launched in India on May 9th. However, as we all know, the latest version of the hatchback is already on sale internationally. A video was recently posted online showing all the differences between the new and old models. In addition to the third generation model, the presenter highlights all the important innovations of the new car.

Old vs new Maruti Suzuki Swift

This detailed video comparison of the old and new Swift comes courtesy of Auto Social UK from YouTube. The presenter begins the video by mentioning that both basic variants were brought along for this comparison. It states that the Swift will only be offered in two variants in the UK.

Front end

The basic variant is called Motion and the top variant is called Ultra. After this short introduction, she starts at the front of the car. The presenter emphasizes that the old model has a large radiator grille with a matte black surface. Meanwhile, the new car gets a radiator grille with a honeycomb pattern and high-gloss black.

Additionally, she stated that the Suzuki logo of the old car was in the grille. But on the new car it is above the grille. Next, she highlights that the old model features a more rounded hood.

In the new car, however, this is more pronounced and results in a continuous body line that runs across the entire car. She then compares the headlights, which are slimmer on the new car, with L-shaped LED daytime running lights.

Side profile

Next she shows the side profile of the two cars. It states that both basic trims come with 16-inch alloy wheels. The presenter adds that both the Motion and Ultra variants get the same 16-inch alloys design.

However, the top-spec version has a diamond-cut surface. She adds that the old Swift’s rear door handles were placed in the C-pillar. But the new car gets them like conventional cars.

Rear end

Finally, the presenter goes to the rear of the car and shares her opinion on the design. She states that the overall design and layout have been retained. However, the car now gets clear LED taillights with stylish looking interiors. She then adds that it also gets a slightly larger rear spoiler.

Interior comparison

2024 Maruti Suzuki Interior

The moderator first takes a seat in the old Swift. She mentions that the interior is completely black with hard plastic all around. It features an integrated touchscreen, manual air conditioning, manually operated rear windows and a simple layout.

She then goes into the interior of the new Swift. She immediately explains that she didn’t initially like the interior of the new Swift. However, things have now gotten better after the time in the old car. She states that it looks much better and feels more airy.

She attributes this feeling to the Swift’s two-tone white and black color. Furthermore, she adds that the car now gets a much better 9-inch infotainment screen, automatic climate control and ventilated front seats. The presenter also adds that although the seats are the same, they are also a slightly lighter color, which looks more elegant.

Old vs. new Swift: engine

Finally, the moderator compares the engines of the two cars. She points out that the old car was equipped with a 1.2 liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 83 horsepower. Meanwhile, the new car is equipped with a new 1.2-liter 3-cylinder Z-series naturally aspirated gasoline engine. This engine also produces the same power, she adds.

Both cars come with a 12V mild hybrid system to help them with city driving. She adds that it also helps improve fuel efficiency. Both cars also come with a 5-speed manual transmission and optional CVT transmission. Finally, she notes that the new car feels much better to drive.
