Apple TV+ revealed a first look at it Lady in the lakethe upcoming seven-part limited series starring Oscar and Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman, who also serves as executive producer, and Emmy Award nominee Moses Ingram.
Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram team up for the gripping thriller Lady in the Lake. The first look will be revealed when the Apple TV+ series premieres on July 19th
When the disappearance of a young girl rocks the city of Baltimore on Thanksgiving 1966, the lives of two women are set on a deadly collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Portman), a Jewish housewife who wants to shed her secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), a mother who navigates the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to to provide for her family. Their different lives initially seem to run parallel, but as Maddie focuses on Cleo’s mysterious death, a rift opens that puts everyone around her in danger.
By director Alma Har’el, Lady in the lake turns out to be a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected story about the price women pay for their dreams. In addition to Portman and Ingram, the series stars Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince.
I’m from the FIFTH SEASON, Lady in the lake is produced by Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America and executive produced, written and directed by Har’el along with producing partner Christopher Leggett. In addition to starring, Portman serves as an executive producer along with producing partner Sophie Mas. Nathan Ross and the late Jean-Marc Vallée serve as executive producers for Crazyrose, and Julie Gardner serves as executive producer for Bad Wolf America. Layne Eskridge, Amy Kaufman, Boaz Yakin and Author Lippmann also executive produce.
Lady in the lake will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, July 19, 2024, followed by new episodes every Friday until August 23, 2024.
