The Gujarat Titans (GT) will wear a special lavender jersey for the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the teams will be held at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad on July 17, 2024 and May 13.
The game against Kolkata Knight Riders will be Gujarat Titans’ last home game in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The team would like to take part in a special game that will highlight the importance of early detection and access to quality care in improving outcomes for cancer patients.
The Gujarat Titans also wore the lavender jersey last year for the same reason related to cancer. The franchise confirmed the development on its social media account and said that wearing the jersey will underline the players’ commitment in the fight against cancer. They explained:
“The Gujarat Titans are taking a stand against cancer and taking to the pitch wearing special lavender jerseys for the second consecutive year. The players will demonstrate their commitment to the fight against cancer at their final home game on May 13, 2024. The gesture will serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care in improving outcomes for cancer patients.”
Colonel Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans also spoke about his team’s gesture and said that the jersey will be the symbol of their support for cancer patients. He added that the gesture would make a significant difference. He added:
“Cancer affects countless lives and the lavender jerseys are a small gesture on our part for the cause. The jerseys are a symbol of our support for cancer patients and survivors and a reminder that preventative measures and early diagnosis are necessary to win.” In the fight against cancer, we hope, together with our fans, to make a meaningful difference in the lives of to affect those affected by cancer.
GT captain Shubman Gill also spoke about the team’s gesture of wearing the lavender jersey and said they are aware of the importance of social responsibility as athletes. He believes that through their gesture, the team can raise awareness about cancer. He added:
“As athletes, we are aware of our social responsibility towards our fans and the community in general. Wearing these lavender jerseys connects us with cancer fighters and honors their courage. Together, we hope our efforts will contribute to a world where the burden of cancer can be overcome through education and awareness.”
Gujarat Titans have a tough time in IPL 2024
The Gujarat Titans are having a tough time in the ongoing Indian Premier League. They sit last in the points table and their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are unmatched. Even though they are still in the running, they seem to be the least favorites in the sport.
