Mickey Guyton Recalls Son Grayson’s Near-fatal Health Scare in 2021

Mickey Guyton became emotional as he reflected on his son Grayson’s near-death experience.

“Back in 2021, after the CMAs I did Brittney Spencer And Madeline [Edwards]“The next day when I got home, my son literally came down with a gastrointestinal illness,” Guyton, 40, recalled during the “Thursday, April 25” episode. The Jennifer Hudson Show. “And I didn’t know what that meant, and he got really, really, really dehydrated. And three ER visits later he had sepsis… and my dear friend, Dr. Nathan Forda black doctor, I remember sending a picture of my son because I could see his eyes were sunken into his face…he was losing consciousness.”

The country star said her friend “secured a bed for us at Santa Monica Reagan Hospital at the height of COVID,” adding, “We were living in downtown Los Angeles at the time. And the traffic in LA – it’s nothing but the grace of God – we drove from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica in like 20 minutes, I swear.”

Grayson, now 3, “was not conscious” when they arrived at the hospital. He was “rushed” to the back for care.

“Everyone just sat on him and started taking his vitals and stuff. We had to leave the room because they couldn’t get any blood because he was so dehydrated,” Guyton continued. “I remember looking at the nurse and saying – I choked out the words – and I said, ‘Is he going to die?’ And the doctor said, ‘I’m not going to lie to you, I’m really worried.'” He’s the sickest person in this emergency room right now.'”

Guyton recalled that she “just fell to her knees and I just started praying,” adding, “I remember this woman was laying on the stretcher and I was holding her hand and we were just praying, ‘God, save my life.’ Baby.’” It was truly one of the scariest moments of my life.”

The experience was a powerful lesson. “And as a mother who has been through something like this, I now realize why our mothers were so crazy about us,” she continued. “I did not understand it. I ask myself, “Why are you so crazy, Mom?” And now I understand… and in that moment I would have done anything to save his life. Without question I would have taken his place.”

Guyton shares her son with her husband Grant Savoywhom she married in 2017. She previously spoke about Grayson’s health and hospitalization on social media in the fall of 2021.

“He felt every single prayer raised over him as he was taken to the ICU and it worked as he stabilized and was discharged from the ICU within a few hours,” she tweeted while telling her fans about her then kept up to date with her nine-month-old birth. condition of the old son. “He’s getting better by the minute, it’s just going to take a while.”
