The following day, Streisand cleared up the controversy by posting an Instagram Story statement in her defense.

“OMG — I went on Instagram to see the photos we posted of the beautiful flowers I got for my birthday!” Streisand explained on Tuesday, April 30, “Among them was a photo of mine Friend Melissa McCarthy, who I sang with on my phone Encore Album.”

Streisand remarked, “She looked amazing! I just wanted to compliment her. I forgot that the world reads.”

Ozempic, designed to treat high blood pressure or treat type 2 diabetes, has become a quick weight loss drug for many in recent years. However, doctors do not recommend using it or similar drugs such as Wegovy or Mounjaro for occasional weight loss.

McCarthy, meanwhile, has been vocal about her weight gains and losses over the years, especially after her fame blossomed after 2011 Bridesmaids.

“I’ve been to every size in the world. When I was in my mid-twenties I was in great shape, but I didn’t like it. If I was a 6 or an 8, I thought, ‘Why aren’t I a 2 or a 4?'” McCarthy recalled More magazine in June 2013. “Now I feel like I have two amazing kids and the dreamiest husband on the planet, and everything else is just a work in progress.”

As the actress reached her 40s, she stopped worrying about “the stupid things I worried about when I was 20,” she explained.

“At 20 you have no responsibilities, so of course you’re a shallow narcissist. You can’t appreciate anything, you’re so busy with yourself. I bought into it – I should be taller and thinner and have better hair. But I think that’s part of being young,” McCarthy said. “Today, especially with children, you lose all sense of time and energy to take care of all the little things. It’s like the chip has been taken out.”
