Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila AlvesThey made a rare appearance with their children for a good cause.
The couple, who have sons Levi, 15, and Livingston, 11, and daughter Vida, 14, attended the 12th Annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala on Thursday, April 25, in Austin, Texas .
McConaughey, 54, wore a navy blue suit and Alves, 41, wore a black dress, while Levi and Livingston wore impeccable black suits. For her part, Vida looked all grown up in a pink dress.
The annual fundraiser is co-founded by country singer McConaughey Jack Ingram and college football coach Mack Brown and benefits nonprofit organizations working to empower children.
According to Mack, Jack & McConaughey’s website, the charity has donated more than $41 million to various organizations since its inception.
McConaughey and Alves, who tied the knot in 2012, were last seen on the red carpet with their children in 2021 when they attended the premiere of his animated film in Los Angeles Sing 2.
The family of five moved from California to Texas, a decision Alves shed light on in a conversation with them earlier this year Life in the South.
“We lived a happy life in Malibu,” Alves said in March. “We had a beautiful house that we built together and put a lot of love and care into. We raised our children there. I grew everything in the garden. I had bees making honey.”
However, Alves noted that “the gravity in Texas is very different” than in California.
“‘You want to move here, don’t you?'” she recalled asking her husband, to which he replied, “Yes.”
McConaughey and Alves have largely kept their family life out of the spotlight, but the proud parents have shared rare glimpses of their children on special occasions via social media. In January, McConaughey shared a sweet birthday message to his daughter.
“To Vida, who never passed a flower she didn’t pick, happy birthday,” he wrote via Instagram at the time. “A day late because my mobile device fell out of my pocket on the rollercoaster ride yesterday on her birthday!” ”
When Levi turned 15 in July 2023, he received permission to join social media as a birthday present from Alves and McConaughey. Alves admitted in an Instagram video that he was “a little nervous” about the decision.
However, McConaughey told his Instagram followers that they would be introduced to “a very cool and respectful young man.”
He continued: “Levi, enjoy the adventure, share your story, express yourself and engage with the people out there.”
While Alves is known as a disciplinarian, McConaughey confessed during an interview in 2020 city Country that he is “the yes guy” in the family.
“Sometimes loving your children means giving them exactly what they want. Sometimes it means tough love,” he said at the time. “Wealthy people can give their children anything they want, but they usually don’t get what they need. Loving a child is much harder when you don’t care at all.”
