“Hello, 34. The year 33 was… something, but the bridge has been crossed and I’m on the other side,” Morris, 34, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, April 10, alongside a slideshow of photos from her birthday celebration. “The wonderful women in my life who have carried me, I will never be able to repay you.”
Morris shared a series of snaps of herself dressed for her birthday as she and her friends went out to eat at Altro Paradiso in New York City. She included a photo of the restaurant’s menu and her group clinking glasses of wine.
This is Morris’ first birthday since she filed for divorce from her ex-husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023 after five years of marriage. The couple, who share son Hayes, 4, officially settled their divorce in January 2024 after reaching an agreement late last year.

A day before her birthday, Morris became emotional while she and her pal Karina Argow conducted a joint interview with CBS Morning. The singer recalled how her best friend stayed by her side after she and Hurd split.
“This one definitely gave me a lot,” Morris said Gayle King while referring to Argo as she continued to fight back tears. “Being here with her and celebrating… I love my music and my writing, of course, but sometimes it’s scary to just be the only one in the spotlight. And that’s why it’s very special for me to be able to share this with her. … It’s such a gift.”
While the breakup was difficult for Morris, she is now ready to move forward with her life. The musician opened up exclusively about it Us weekly about her next chapter and how she plans to embrace her new single status.
“I feel like when you’re just an artist and you’re taking care of a lot of people on the go, you get used to being the boss for so long. I kind of lost sight of really taking care of myself,” Morris said Us in February. “I feel like this is just the perfect moment for me to make this statement.”

Now Morris wants to focus on “truly reclaiming” her single life while learning how to “enjoy her own company and nurture that relationship.”
In addition to her love life, Morris is also brushing up on her music career. Last year, she declared her plans to leave the country music genre. Before she and 37-year-old Hurd split, Morris had a new album ready, but after her split her life “imploded” and she returned to “starting point” creatively.
“I’m kind of back to square one, which doesn’t scare me as much anymore because… nothing can faze me at this point,” she said Us. “I’m just trying to figure out what it sounds like.”
