Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 Select vs Z8: Here’s How You Can Save Rs. 1.5 Lakh! (Video)

Mahindra offers its popular SUV, the Scorpio N, in a total of 34 variants. Today, we will be comparing the recently launched Z8 Select variant with the Z8 with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Anubhav Chauhan.

First, let’s talk about pricing. The Z8 Select trim is priced at Rs. 16.99 Lakhs for the petrol manual and Rs. 17.99 Lakhs for the diesel manual. On the other hand, the Z8 petrol manual is priced at Rs. 18.64 lakhs and the diesel manual is priced at Rs. 19.10 lakhs. This translates to a price difference of Rs. 1.64 lakhs for the petrol version and Rs. 1.10 lakhs for the diesel with manual transmission. Please note that all prices quoted are ex-showroom. The Z8 Select variant is positioned above the Z6 and below the Z8.

Now let’s talk about what the Z8 variant offers over the Z8 Select. Starting at the front, both trims are exactly the same and have similar features, including projector LED headlights, LED daytime running lights with LED fog lamps, a gray skid plate, and a black grille with multiple chrome elements.

On the side, both variants come with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and all four disc brakes. From the side, both variants look the same, but the Z8 variant offers some additional features like power folding ORVMs and chrome door handles with a keyless entry request sensor. The Z8 Select variant only offers electrically adjustable ORVMs.

The rear profile is the same for both variants. Similar to the side profile, the tailgate handle on the Z8 variant is made of chrome and has a request sensor. The Z8 Select variant, however, does not offer this function.

Now let’s talk about the main differences in the interior. The Z8 variant offers a push-button start feature which is missing from the Z8 Select variant. The Z8 Select variant, similar to the Z8, also offers high-quality soft-touch materials on the dashboard, door pads, leg pads and door armrest.

The seat covers are also made of faux leather. Other features on both variants include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom leather steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted controls, a single-pane sunroof and cruise control. Additionally, the Z8 variant offers automatic headlights, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Both variants offer similar safety features including six airbags, all four disc brakes, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control (ESC).
All in all, the only difference between both variants is power folding ORVMs, keyless entry with push button start and other minor features like automatic headlights, dual zone automatic air conditioning, rain sensing wipers and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). ).

When we talk about daily operations, we may not feel the need for these features that make the Z8 Select a VFM option. Both variants are powered by the same engines with the same transmission options. The SUV is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 173 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It is also offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 203bhp and 380Nm of torque. These engine options can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
