For those who may not know the exact results of the Mahindra Bolero Neo, the SUV received an appalling 1-star safety rating from Global NCAP after its crash tests. According to the Global NCAP assessment, the Bolero Neo underperformed in several key areas, including adult occupant protection, child occupant safety and structural integrity. In particular, the SUV had a low level of protection for adult occupants. It was found that the body structure was unstable and safety features such as airbags and seat belt reminders were inadequate.

In the adult occupant protection test, the Mahindra Bolero Neo only achieved 20.26 out of 34 points. Additionally, it has been reported that the body or structure of the Mahindra Neo is unstable. Global NCAP also added that the footwell area was also unstable.

Apart from this, the Mahindra Bolero Neo only scored 12.71 out of 49 points. This particular score highlights that the vehicle is extremely unsafe for child occupants.

Global NCAP also mentioned that Bolero Neo also misses out on a number of safety features. These include three-point seat belts for all passengers, a passenger airbag switch and a child restraint system (CRS) only.

According to authorities, one of the reasons for the low safety rating was the side-facing seats in the third row. In general, these types of seats are not considered safe for passengers.

Mahindra’s safety record: A mixed bag

Mahindra Scorpio-n global Ncap rating

While the Bolero Neo’s performance in the Global NCAP crash test is a cause for concern, we must keep an eye on Mahindra’s overall safety record. The company’s other models including XUV300, Thar, XUV700 and Scorpio-N have received commendable safety ratings.

Some of these models have even received 4 or 5 star ratings in Global NCAP reviews. The Bolero Neo’s disappointing results most likely demonstrate the need for continuous improvement from the brand.
