Fans on Twitter reacted after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued their dominance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 98 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday (May 5).
Kolkata Knight Riders had a brutal start with the bat in Lucknow. Phil Salt (32) and Sunil Narine (81) created havoc for the hosts’ bowlers. They started with full force and put the opponents under immense pressure with their opening stand of 61 runs.
Thereafter, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (32) supported Narine well by adding 79 runs as a partner for the second wicket. Their partnership paved the way for Kolkata Knight Riders to secure a major overall win at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Rinku Singh (16), Shreyas Iyer (23) and Ramandeep Singh (25) played important roles as the visitors posted a total of 235 runs on the board. For Lucknow Super Giants, Naveen-ul-Haq picked three wickets.
In the chase, Lucknow Super Giants lost Arshin Kulkarni (6) early on and after that skipper KL Rahul (25) and Marcus Stoinis (36) brought them back into the game and put the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers under pressure.
The Rahul-Stoinis duo added 50 runs and looked ready for battle. But after that, Kolkata Knight bowlers were all over the batters and chipped in with wickets at regular intervals, taking control of the game.
The Kolkata Knight Riders outscored their opponents by 137 runs and won the game by 98 runs with 16 points to their name to move to the top of the table. Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana picked three wickets each and Andre Russell picked up two scalps.
