A perfect Sunday evening for cricket fans. The 54th showdown of the IPL will see an intense clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Ekana Stadium. The game is made even more exciting by the dominating performances of the KKR batters. Sunil Narine put on a show after getting two lives from LSG fielders and eventually Devdutt Padikkal sent him back to the pavilion.
Narine’s two lives of LSG fielders:
After facing Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders in the first half of the season, both teams will face each other again. Kolkata defeated Lucknow in the first game and Lucknow is aiming for revenge this time. But while they batted first, the Knights’ batters got off to an amazing start. Sunil Narine was aggressive from the start.
After winning the toss, KL Rahul decided to bowl first. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine came on to open the innings for KKR. Like the previous games of the season, he made an aggressive start and scored an astonishing half-century. The LSG bowlers struggled to stop him. In the 12th over, Ravi Bishnoi came to bowl. In the second ball of the over, Bishnoi bowled an amazing delivery. Narine misjudged the length but tried the loft anyway. The ball hangs in the air and gives Padikkal the chance to go long-on. However, he misjudges his positioning, steps on the boundary ropes and goes over them. Narine survives and gets a second chance as the ball sails to a six.
His second life returned in the very next ball. Bishnoi delivers a quicker delivery and a wider off-stump. Narine tries a shot on the offside but gets a big top edge. The ball goes to Mohsin to the third man, who jumps full length to the right but can’t hold on. Unfortunately, he misses the catch again, giving Narine another chance.
Finally Devdutt sent him back:
After two consecutive lives back, he was confident. But in the last over, Bishnoi dismissed Narine and secured the long-awaited success. On this last ball, Ravi Bishnoi played a full ball outside the corridor. Narine tries to hit straight to the ground but misses the timing and gets a big inside edge. The ball goes straight to Padikkal, who was at long-on, who positions himself well inside the boundary, takes a sure catch and throws Narine off the field.
This performance ends another good innings from Sunil Narine with 81 runs. Salt walked away having scored 32 runs. Interestingly, Andre Russell walked off after scoring just 12 runs. The LSG bowlers dominate their opponents again. After the 15th over, Kolkata is 171-3.
