Why did Sanjiv Goenka lash out at KL Rahul?
After Lucknow Super Giants won the toss, KL Rahul opted to bat first but the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers were on fire. They quickly pushed Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis out of the crease while Rahul put in a terrible performance with 29 off 33.
LSG didn’t even look close to scoring 150 points but Nicholas Pooran’s 48 off 26 and Ayush Badoni’s 55 off 30 took their total to 165, leaving 166 as the target.
Coming into this game having lost two of their last three games, Sunrisers Hyderabad needed to show a strong response and that is exactly what they did. The deadly duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma vented all their frustration against Krishnappa Gowtham, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Nanveen-ul-Haq and Ayush Badoni. All of them conceded more than 10 runs per over.
Head and Abhishek ended up forming a 167-run partnership and finished the game in 9.4 overs. LSG were defeated by SRH in a one-sided and humiliating manner, which left owner Sanjiv Goenka furious.
Goenka took LSG captain KL Rahul near him to the dugout and the pictures of their conversation did not look convincing at all. The LSG owner was seen saying things aggressively and Rahul was also gesturing with his hand.
The pundits noticed this and claimed that KL Rahul shouldn’t be in this situation and that Goenka should have done this somewhere else. The video of Goenka and the LSG captain is going viral on all social media platforms and fans are supporting Rahul to quit the franchise next season.
The RCB fans have also gotten on board with this and are constantly begging KL Rahul to return to the Bengaluru-based club where he played for three seasons.
