Fans on Twitter reacted after Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They won the match by 8 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday (April 26). .

The Kolkata Knight Riders had a dream start with the bat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Phil Salt (75) and Sunil Narine (71) came out in full force and set the stage on fire. They added 138 runs for the opening partnership and created a great platform for the power hitters. 

Venkatesh Iyer (39) then played a great hand before Andre Russell (24:12b, 2×2, 2×6) and Shreyas Iyer (28:10b, 1×4, 3×6) finished the innings on a high note. Kolkata Knight Riders posted a mammoth total of 261 runs on the board. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/45.

The Punjab Kings set the stage on fire right from the start. Prabhsimran Singh (54) and Jonny Bairstow (108*) added 93 runs for the opening wicket in six overs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and put the home team under pressure. 

After Prabhsimran’s exit, Rilee Rossouw (26) also played an important hand. Jonny Bairstow then hit a magnificent century while Shashank Singh (68*) supported him well. They added 84 runs for the third wicket and took the game away from Kolkata Knight Riders.  

Due to their sensational performance with the bat, the Punjab Kings chased the target with 8 wickets in hand. They also had eight balls left and this was the highest ever chase in the history of T20 cricket.
