Veteran South African pacer Wayne Parnell expressed his admiration for Suryakumar Yadav’s batting skills after Mumbai Indians (MI)’s win against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Wayne Parnell stated that a DNA test should be conducted on Suryakumar Yadav to determine his exceptional talent.
Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant century against SunRisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 6. He scored an unbeaten 102 runs off just 51 balls, including 12 boundaries and six maximums. The right-handed batsman helped Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket win at home.
The 33-year-old batter came to the crease with 174 runs when the team was in a challenging situation at 31/3. Suryakumar added an unbeaten 145 runs off 79 balls with Tilak Varma for the fourth wicket. Supporting Surya from the other end, Tilak scored an unbeaten 37 runs off 32 balls with six fours.
Suryakumar achieved two important milestones in the last game. He became the second Mumbai Indians player after Rohit Sharma to score two centuries in the IPL. Yadav equaled KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s tally for most T20 centuries by an Indian, with six centuries to his name.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan praised Suryakumar Yadav’s commitment and skills and highlighted his recent achievements. Pathan explained that Suryakumar had the ability to start steadily and then accelerate.
“Last game, Surya Kumar Yadav scored a half-century and at the beginning he literally played up to 15 balls at a strike rate of 100 and ended up scoring 160. Today also started responsibly. Commitment and ability.” Pathan wrote.

Mohammad Kaif praised Suryakumar Yadav for his strong character amid Mumbai Indians’ challenges. The former India batsman stated that Yadav has made a strong statement by taking on Pat Cummins ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar missed a few matches in IPL 2024. The batsman started his campaign with a duck against Delhi Capitals (DC). He scored fifties against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). He has scored 334 runs in nine matches at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 176.72.
The Hardik Pandya-led team is currently at the ninth spot in the points table after picking up four wins in 12 games. The Mumbai team will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, May 11.
