JK Rowling had harsh words for it Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and even more stars who disagree with their transgender views.
The Harry Potter The author, who has been criticized for her anti-trans comments over the years, published an article about “medical evidence on children’s transition” on Wednesday, April 10, via X.
A fan responded to Rowling’s post, saying they would “wait for Dan and Emma to publicly apologize to you… knowing you will forgive them.” Rowling, 58, responded, suggesting they don’t forgive them that they had spoken out against their faith.
“I fear it is not safe,” the author wrote of renegades and vulnerable women who rely on single-sex spaces.”
Both Radcliffe (34) and Watson (33) started in Hollywood with the lead role in the film adaptation of Rowling’s bestseller Harry Potter Novels. However, both actors took a stand against Rowling when she first made her controversial comments in June 2020.
“While Jo is undoubtedly responsible for the course of my life, as someone who has had the honor of working with and continuing to contribute to The Trevor Project over the last decade, and as a human being, I feel compelled to say something at this moment “Wrote Radcliffe, an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, in an essay condemning Rowling. “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and contradicts all advice from professional health organizations who have far more expertise on the subject than Jo or I.”
Watson also expressed her support for the trans community amid Rowling’s controversy.
“Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told that they are not who they say they are,” wrote the Little Women actress said at the time about X. “I want my trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are. I donate to @Mermaids_Gender and @mamacash. If you can, you may be inclined to do the same. Happy #PRIDE2020 sending love x.”
Watson and Radcliffe aren’t the only ones Harry Potter Alumni have spoken out against the now-disgraced author over the years. Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Eddie Redmayne, Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter and more have expressed their support for the trans community over the years.
Despite the loss of support, Rowling continues to speak out about her controversial beliefs. Earlier this month she criticized the UK’s hate crime and public order law, which aims to tackle the harm caused by hate and prejudice by challenging police to arrest her because of her beliefs.
“Freedom of speech and belief is at an end in Scotland if accurately describing biological sex is considered criminal,” she wrote of X. “I am currently out of the country, but if what I have written here is considered criminal There “If it is a criminal offense under the new law, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the birthplace of the Scottish Enlightenment.”
