Jenelle Evans tries to find the positive in her rocky marriage to her estranged husband David Eason.
“I don’t regret this time because I learned a lot of life lessons that were very important for me growing up,” Evans, 32, shared on her Instagram Stories on Friday, April 26, as she took part in a question and answer session. “Life is easier to understand, I would say.”
The previous Teen Mom 2 star added: “I’ve always learned from it [my] mistake and he was definitely a big mistake.”
Back in March, Evans filed for separation from Eason, 35, after six years of marriage. The reality star filed the documents with “the intent that the separation be permanent.”
When asked by a social media user why she filed for a separation and not a divorce, she replied 16 and pregnant alum explained her thinking.
“I would have gotten a divorce right away, but I couldn’t because in the state of North Carolina you have to be legally separated for a year and prove you have two different addresses,” she said on TikTok 6 in March. “The problem with that is that none of us wanted to go. That’s why whenever I had the opportunity to file a motion for separation, I filed a motion called a bed and board separation.”
Throughout their marriage, Evans and Eason made headlines for the ups and downs of their love story. In 2019, MTV officially cut ties with the couple after Eason admitted to killing the family dog. Evans separated from her husband that same year, but they reconciled in March 2020.
While the couple continue to live apart, Evans – who shares 14-year-old son Jace with his ex Andrew LewisHis son Kaiser, 9, with his ex-boyfriend Nathan Griffith and daughter Ensley, 7, with Eason — claimed her immediate family was glad someone was out of the picture.
“Everyone is happier and my ex doesn’t even reach out to call or text any of the kids,” Evans claimed of Eason. “He’s living his best life. Even his own daughter doesn’t even want to live with him.”
Last month, Eason opened up about his breakup Celebuzz and said he was “so much happier and healthier without Jenelle.”
“The stress I was under was making me physically ill,” he told the publication. “I’m so glad that now I don’t have to wake up every morning with extreme anxiety.” He also expressed his willingness to sign the divorce papers as soon as possible.
During their question and answer session, Evans was specifically asked about Eason’s TikToks where he talks about his current reality. She apparently warned her fans not to believe everything they see.
“He does everything he says just to ‘look better,’ but in reality,” she said, “behind closed doors, he knows the person he really is.”
As Evans moves forward with her breakup, she told a follower that dating isn’t a priority. Instead, she “focuses on me and my children.”
When another fan said Evans looked “happier despite everything,” she replied: “I’m good at hiding it but I’m really scared today.”
