Friends of freinds! Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce‘s long-time friends and colleagues — Jack Antonoff And Patrick Mahomesor – came together on Thursday for a photo session TIME 100 Gala in New York City.
Antonoff posed between Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomeswrapped his arms around the couple.
Mahomes, of course, is Kelce’s tight end quarterback with the Kansas City Chiefs, while Antonoff is a longtime musical collaborator of Swift’s. The pop singer, 34, was was previously named TIME’s Person of the Year End of 2023.
Antonoff and Mahomes were each honored as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in this year’s TIME 100 list.
In a homage written by the baseball legend Alex RodríguezMahomes is hailed as “one of the most respected athletes of all time, both on and off the field.”
Antonoff, for his part, was honored with a heartfelt blurb by Maren Morris, who shed light on his appearance as a producer and songwriter.
“On the one hand, I can count on the people who make me feel safe in the studio,” revealed Morris. “Jack Antonoff makes you feel like you can just be. Whether we’re pursuing fingernail percussion, getting existential, or doing some good old soul-healing gossip, I always leave our sessions with a new perspective.”
Morris also acknowledged his outstanding work with his band Bleachers.
“I don’t know of a producer with a more diverse range of work,” she added. “Yes, we all know the albums he has produced and won multiple GRAMMYs for, but I always go back to the music he plays himself. When I listen to Bleachers, I hear subtle traces of his production ear, present in his contributions to other artists’ projects, but it is his own art that makes him shine. And the live shows: holy shit.
Shortly after his Coachella performances, Antonoff is featured as one of Swift’s key producers and co-writers on her 11th studio album. The Tortured Poets Department. The 31-track double album, most of which was also co-written and produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, reportedly sold 1.4 million copies on its first day alone is on track for a historic first week.
On Monday, TTPD became the most streamed Spotify album within a week. The album has racked up more than one billion streams since its release.
Mahomes shared his thoughts on his teammate’s high-profile relationship with Swift, who took center stage last season as the Chiefs fought their way to their third NFL championship in the last five years, in his profile interview for the 2024 TIME 100.
“[The Chiefs] has evolved from a nationwide team that operated somewhat globally to a fully global, worldwide team. That came from Taylor’s fan base,” he shared.
“I’ve met a lot of famous people in my life now,” mused Mahomes, who grew up in the spotlight as his father, Pat Mahomes, played Major League Baseball for over a decade. “Taylor is probably the most down-to-earth person to have been on this stage for so long.”
“She never works,” he continued. “Even when she takes some time off, she’s working on something. She shoots a music video, sings a song or writes a song. You can see that in the way she talks. Even when she talks about football, when she learns it, you can see it.” Her business acumen sums it up. It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. “Why can’t you try this, this and this?” She asks the right questions.
After his second straight Super Bowl winning season, Kelce took some time off to relax and enjoy his budding relationship. He was spotted at several stops on Swift’s Eras Tour, and the couple recently attended the Coachella Music Festival together and shared many beautiful moments – and even a small PDA — on the weekend.
“Taylor and Travis were so excited to go to Coachella together,” A source told ET earlier this month. “They wanted to be there to support their friends and just have fun. They had the best time at the festival and felt like they were in their own world even though there were so many people around them. They are very much in love and in sync in many ways of their lives, and it is very beautiful to see.
Then, on his New heights podcast, Kelce raved about seeing Antonoff’s performance.
“It was fun to go out there and see some new bands that I really didn’t know and I just grew to absolutely love their music because of the way they perform and captivate the audience and get everyone carried away have,” he said. “The Bleachers, that guy Jack Antonoff, absolutely killed it and I had so much fun watching him go crazy with the guitar and all his guys. They had two saxophonists, two drummers, two guitars, and they just did it and it was so much fun.”
Earlier this week, A source told ET that Travis is one of Taylor’s biggest supporters as she releases her album.
“Travis is so supportive of the entire album and loves being a part of Taylor’s story,” the source told ET. “He’s a Swiftie through and through and very proud of her.”
