IPL Points Table 2024: Updated Rankings, Most Runs, Most Wickets by PBKS vs DC, Game 2 and KKR vs SRH, Game 3

Two matches were played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Saturday (March 23). The first match was between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Chandigarh. In the second match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In the first match, Punjab Kings emerged victorious as they defeated Delhi Capitals by four wickets and boosted their campaign with the win. DC were asked to bat first and they got off to a good start thanks to David Warner (29) and Mitchell Marsh (20).

Shai Hope (33) and Rishabh Pant (18) made useful contributions but real lightning came from the bat of Abishek Porel (32*). Based on the deciding innings, Delhi Capitals recorded a total of 174 runs. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/28.

Shikhar Dhawan (22) scored a crucial win for his team at the top. Prabhsimran Singh (26) also made a good contribution. But the heroes of the innings for Punjab Kings were Sam Curran (63) and Liam Livingstone (38*). They countered the Delhi bowlers and added 67 runs to clinch the victory.

In the second game, KKR was asked to bat first and they got off to a hot start with the bat. Although Phil Slat (54th) scored a decisive half-century in the opening phase. But at the other end the wickets continued to fall as they faltered at 51/4.

Ramandeep Singh (35) came out in full force and changed the momentum of the game but after his dismissal, KKR came under pressure at 105/6. But then Rinku Singh (23) and Andre Russell wreaked havoc on the bowlers and brought their team back.

Andre Russell (64*) hit a brutal half-century while Rinku Singh supported him well. The hosts posted a mammoth total of 208 runs on the board. For SRH, T. Natarajan picked three wickets alongside Mayank Markande.

In the chase, Mayank Agarwal (32) and Abhishek Sharma (32) gave the team a brutal start. The duo added 60 runs for the opening stand. But they couldn’t convert the start they had. Rahul Tripathi (20) and Aiden Markram (18) did not look comfortable as SRH faltered at 111/4.

Heinrich Klaasen played a blinder, scored 63 runs off 29 balls and brought his team back into the game. SRH was almost down but he changed the course of the game and put KKR under pressure. However, he failed to finish the game as KKR won by 4 runs.

After the second match between PBKS and DC and the third match between KKR and SRH in IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings continued to remain on top. After beating DC, PBKS secured second place. The Kolkata Knight Riders climbed to third place. While the remaining teams are yet to open their account.

Andre Russell is the orange cap holder in IPL 2024. He tops the charts with 64 runs, followed by Heinrich Klaasen who has 63 runs. Sam Curran is in third place while Phil Salt and Anuj Rawat are in fourth and fifth place.
