The 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 hosted the high-profile SRH vs MI match on Wednesday (March 27). The two teams competed against each other at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were asked to bat first in the SRH vs MI game and had a brutal start to the game thanks to Travis Head. The Australian batsman scored 62 runs off 54 balls and after that Abhishek Sharma showed an even better performance with the bat.
The left-hander also scored a brutal half-century in just 16 balls and ended with an innings of 63 runs off 23 balls. He ensured that the Mumbai Indians bowlers had no answer to the carnage at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Afterwards, Heinrich Klaasen (80*) and Aiden Markram (42*) ensured that they took the game completely out of the hands of the Mumbai Indians. They added an unbeaten partnership of 116 runs and took their team to the highest total score in the IPL. They finished with 277 runs on the board.
Rohit Sharma (26) and Ishan Kishan (34) defeated Mumbai Indians in the big fightback. The duo added 56 runs for the opening stand and provided a great platform for the team. After that, Naman Dhir (30) and Tilak Varma (64) played brilliantly.
The youngsters kept Mumbai Indians in the game and ensured their score was around 14 at a run rate. After Tilak was eliminated, things became difficult for the Hardik Pandya-led side as they were unable to score runs freely. Tim David (42*) tried his best but it was a difficult task as Mumbai lost the game by 31 runs.

Chennai Super Kings retained the top spot in the IPL 2024 points table after Match 8 between SRH and MI, along with Rajasthan Royals in second place. Sunrisers Hyderabad jumped to third place after the win while Kolkata Knight Riders were pushed down to fourth place. The Punjab Kings are at 5th place, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. The remaining teams still have to register for victory.
