Harry Kane Blocked Jude Bellingham’s ‘murmur’ Before Bayern Munich’s Penalty Against Real Madrid

Harry Kane says he blocked everything after his England teammate Jude Bellingham tried to scare him off before scoring a penalty in Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid.

English striker Kane gave Bayern a 2-1 lead from the penalty spot before a late penalty from Vinicius Junior earned Real a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in Munich.

Kane: I ignored Bellingham’s mutterings

Kane recounted what his international teammate Bellingham said to him before the penalty TNT: “I don’t know what he said. I saw him mutter something.

“Once I’m in that moment, I’m in my zone and I try to block everyone out. I’m sure he said something to throw me off.”

Kane’s penalty increased his season tally to 43 goals in as many games in his first season in Munich.

The 30-year-old admitted the season didn’t quite go to plan and he lost the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, but the big games are the reason he moved from Tottenham last summer.

“It’s been a good season so far. It’s all about the next game. Everything we are fighting for this year is in this competition. It’s going to be hard. We must go there with full faith.”

“I have been here for many years. It’s not a unique year. At the start of the season the expectation was to win trophies. The Champions League is the biggest. If we can somehow get our hands on these, we would have a great season.

“These are the big games. The atmosphere today was incredible. That’s why I want to be a part of these big games, these big moments.”

Ancelotti: Bellingham not at its best

Kane’s England teammate Bellingham was substituted in the second half and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted the 20-year-old was “not at his best” against Bayern Munich.

He said: “Bellingham was just tired. He couldn’t go on anymore.”

“He will return to his best performance. I think he was injured which affected him, but he wasn’t at his best today. He will definitely be back.”

Madrid took the lead against the run of play in the 24th minute when Toni Kroos laid a superb through ball to Vinicius Jr., who coolly slotted the ball in to give the away team the lead at half-time.

Munich scored twice in four minutes of the second half, first through Leroy Sane, before Jamal Musiala went down in the penalty area and Kane sent Andriy Lunin the wrong way to give them the lead.

Similar to the quarter-final against Manchester City, Madrid were undefeated and came from behind again through Vinicius’ penalty to make things clear ahead of the second leg, while Kane was left with the “slightly disappointing” result, he firmly believes they can qualify next week.

Kane said: “It’s a little disappointing. After we took a 2-1 lead, we had two or three good chances, especially from set pieces, but this is a Champions League semi-final, we expected a difficult game.”

“Real Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe and they can punish you with one or two actions like they did today. So of course we’re disappointed we didn’t win, but everything is on the line next week.”

The England captain added: “We were ahead in the first 10 or 15 minutes, had a few chances there, but then their goal came against the run of play.”

“They built up the momentum and then we struggled to play our game, but in the second half we came out with more intensity and deserved to score the two goals. We didn’t get the third goal, but everything was promising.”

“We’ll dust ourselves off, hard, but we’re looking forward to next week.”

Ancelotti: We can play better

Meanwhile, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his side can play better after equalizing ahead of next week’s second leg at the Bernabeu.

“Interesting game,” he said. “We could play better. We didn’t do our best. We had problems in the first half with a low block, too deep. We started applying pressure and it was a lot better.”

“We tried to change something in the second half. We started really well and conceded two goals when our moment was good. The game was difficult when we were 2-1 down.”

“Vinicius is starting to understand how important it is for him to move within the pitch and not just near the line. He learned how to move really well.”

“[The second leg] Will be exciting. Open. You never know what will happen.
