Gypsy Rose Blanchard Publishes Memoir After Her Prison Sentence

Gypsy Rose Blanchard offers her side of the story in an upcoming memoir titled My time to stand.

Blanchard, 32, announced the news on Monday, April 29, along with details about the project. My time to standwhich will be published in January 2025, was co-written by Melissa Moore And Michele Matrisciani.

“I love the title of my book, not only because it addresses the question I am asked most often, but because in our pain and struggle we can find what we want to stand for,” Blanchard said People in a statement. “If we dare to remain in our silence in our stories, our purpose can become revealed. And we all have a goal. That’s what I hope people will take away from my book.”

The memoir is set to hit bookshelves a year after Gypsy’s release from prison. She served seven years for her mother’s murder. Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchardwho was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her Missouri home in June 2015 at the age of 48.

After he was arrested along with his ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She was granted parole in September 2023 before being released.

Gypsy has previously spoken out about how her mother allegedly abused her. Dee Dee, who appeared to suffer from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, told Gypsy and the public that her daughter had been diagnosed with various medical problems, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, brain damage and seizures, but this did not appear to be the case.
