Turner, 72, filed for dissolution of their marriage in his hometown of Petersburg, Indiana, on Friday, April 12, the same day that their separation date was also listed. He cited the “irretrievable failure” of their marriage as the reason for the separation.
A few hours earlier, Turner and Nist, 70, showed up Good morning America to confirm their separation.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heartfelt conversations,” he said on Friday’s show. “We took a close look at our living situation and collectively came to the conclusion that it was time for us to dissolve our marriage. “What struck me most in our conversations was how committed we both are to our families. When we look at these situations, I think it is best for the happiness of each of us to live separately.”
Turner continued: “I still love that person, there’s no doubt about that in my mind. I cheer for her every day.”
Turner and Nist have entered into a prenuptial agreement and also plan to return their wedding and engagement rings from Neil Lane in accordance with the terms of the contract.
Turner and Nist met in the first season of The Golden Bachelorgot engaged at the finale in November 2023. They married two months later in January and planned to buy a home together in New Jersey or South Carolina.
Rumors about Turner and Nist’s relationship began earlier this month when TMZ reported that the two were living apart. A source later told Us that Turner lived at his home in Indiana while Turner lived in New Jersey, where she worked. The insider noted that the couple had a long-distance marriage and visited each other often.

“We looked at houses in South Carolina [and] We thought about New Jersey,” she said. “We looked at one home after another but never got to the point where we made that decision.”
This is the second marriage for Turner and Nist, who were both married to their high school sweethearts.
