‘Ghosts’ Star Brandon Scott Jones Talks Season Finale (Exclusive)

Brandon Scott Jones promises that the finale of the third season of Ghosts will give his character an unforgettable (and possibly chaotic) wedding.

In one Preview of the finalViewers see Isaac dealing with severe cold feet in the lead-up to the wedding and even fantasizing about the human stripper that Sam (Rose McIver) was hired for his bachelor party a few episodes ago. Jones tells ET that while there will certainly be some outlandish scenes for fans to laugh at, it’s still very down-to-earth… or as down-to-earth as a ghost wedding can be.

“I think you wake up that morning and you’re not sure, you think, ‘Oh my God, I’m really making a commitment,’ and then these people are already dead [it’s] for until death do us part,” he shared.

Jones remained tight-lipped about the exact details, explaining that a shock on the wedding day in the form of an uninvited attendee would drive the whole ordeal crazy. As to who it might be (perhaps the Australian dancer Isaac dreamed of?), viewers will just have to tune in.

“We have kind of a surprise guest, someone he wasn’t expecting and who might throw him off a little,” Jones shared.

He also added that viewers should stick around until the last minute of the episode as there may be one final twist that will keep fans on the edge of their seats until the season 4 premiere.

“There’s a little twist at the very end where I think the character gets what he deserves and you don’t know it’s coming,” Jones teased.

The wedding day episode is an important moment for Jones’ character, who has come a long way from obscurity in the first season to his dramatic declaration of love to Nigel. The actor tells ET that he got the chance to play a nuanced and hilarious character — especially one who’s learning so much about himself so late in life Life Death is something he is eternally grateful for.

“It was cathartic in many ways. It’s never too late to realize who you are,” he said. “Sometimes it’s difficult to do it as yourself. And if I can experience it through a character that you’re playing, even if it’s not me, I can kind of experience some of those things.”

He added: “When I step away from filming the show, sometimes I feel like, ‘Oh, if Isaac can do it, maybe I can do it too.'”

Jones said they are already coming up with storylines and guest stars for the new season, including a living comedy legend and a Broadway icon with a unique connection to his character on the show.

“I would say it’s probably my favorite actor Julia Louis Dreyfus” he said of his dream guest star. “So if we could find some place for her.”

Perhaps a cameo would be more likely Lin Manuel Miranda, who Isaac has an argument with in the show. A Revolutionary War ghost, Jones’ character has often referenced knowledge of the real Alexander Hamilton and repeatedly commented that Miranda had written a musical about him.

“I guess that’s like an Isaac-centric answer is to have Lin-Manuel Miranda play Hamilton on our show because my character has such a rivalry with him,” he said, even pitching a musical episode in which he raps with the Tony Award winner. “That would be pretty cool. Wouldn’t that be great?”

The cast previously pitched In the heights Creator as dream guest star for an upcoming season during a scheduled visit to ET.
