Drunk Driver Starts Dodge Charger on No Parking Sign

  • Police in Michigan recently came across a Dodge Charger hanging almost vertically from a no parking sign.
  • Authorities believe the car struck a cable attached to a pole, causing the vehicle to be thrown into the air.
  • The driver was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of 0.17% or more.

Police in Ann Arbor, Michigan, responded Friday to a freak accident in which a Dodge Charger became stuck on a no parking sign. However, this was no ordinary accident as the car was almost vertical.

According to police, officers responded to a report of an accident around 3:40 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they saw the unusual sight as well as four women who had already escaped from the vehicle.

An investigation was launched and police discovered the 24-year-old driver had “hit a cable attached to a pole”. This apparently caused the vehicle to fly into the air and land on the road sign.

No one was injured in the accident and the car appears to be in surprisingly good condition. However, it’s worth noting that the woman appears to have just purchased the car from Hertz as it has a temporary license plate.

In addition to crashing her “new” car, the woman was arrested for driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.17% or more. That’s more than twice the legal limit and can result in steep penalties, including thousands in fees and fines, up to a year of driver’s license suspension, and up to 180 days in jail.

Police used the unusual accident to make people aware of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. They said it was “very fortunate that there were no serious injuries in this incident” but “always plan a sober ride home – NEVER drive drunk or intoxicated.”
