Detroit Venue Reacts After Viral Video Shows Balcony Shaking During Gunna’s Show (Watch)

Gunna recently stopped in Detroit during his “Bitter Sweet” tour. However, it was the audience and the venue that got people talking online. A viral video shows a balcony at the Fox Theater shaking violently as fans jump to the music.

The venue reportedly responded to viral concerns about the safety of its buildings on Tuesday (May 7).

Gunna shared the now-viral clip on his Instagram page on May 6 after the Monday night show. Detroit was the second stop on his tour of the United States – his first since his release from prison in 2022.

The clip alternated between Gunna performing “f*kumean” on stage and a balcony in the theater. The balcony visibly shook as fans arrived to the song.

This is how Fox Theater responded

According to The Detroit News, the theater building is nearly 100 years old. Still, venue officials claimed the shaking balcony was normal.

The company’s statement said: “The type of movement seen at the recent Fox Theater concert is common and expected on free-standing balcony structures to support audience active dancing, as demonstrated at last night’s concert.”

Additionally, the Fox Theater in Detroit said its venue was recently inspected and opened to audiences in April.

“This capability is an integral part of the structural design of the balcony. Regular inspections, most recently conducted in April, are being completed to ensure the integrity and safety of the structure.”

According to Historic Detroit, the venue has undergone several restorations since it opened in September 1928.

There were reactions everywhere on social media

Aside from his caption in the video post, Gunna made no further comment about the shaky balcony on his show. All it said was “Eyuhh” with a nervous emoticon and the hashtags of his tour name and Detroit.

Meanwhile, some people on X (formerly Twitter) and under The Shade Room’s repost couldn’t believe their eyes, while others said the balcony was designed to withstand the shaking.

@cocoaxmula wrote on TSR’s post: “This is actually scary. Thank God it didn’t collapse.”

@need4lspeed agreed, wrote, “Um… that’s actually frightening. This theater is super old.”

@byronbrownjr added, “All I see is ‘Final Destination.’

Meanwhile, several others shared past experiences at the Fox Theater where there were no incidents.

@ladiguap wrote: “This balcony has been doing this since before I was born and it hasn’t collapsed yet.”

@whop_gotcash added, “They don’t do that at every concert.”

@eastsideronnie_ agreed, “The Fox balcony is always jumping. I thought I was going to meet Jesus at the Jeezy concert.”

This week, Gunna was also involved in online conversations after hip-hop fans speculated that he and Future were exchanging taunts online.
