Delhi Capitals (DC) will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 40th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Wednesday (April 24). The match will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Both teams are currently in the bottom half of the IPL 2024 points table and cannot afford any further slip-ups if they want to qualify for the playoffs. With three wins from eight games, DC is currently in eighth place in the points table. On the other hand, GT is in sixth place with four wins and as many defeats.
In their last game, DC suffered a crushing 67-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad after conceding a total of 266. GT, on the other hand, recorded a three-wicket win over the Punjab Kings and were chasing 143.

The upcoming clash will be the second between the two teams this season. The first meeting took place last week and DC won it with the utmost ease. DC defeated GT by a meager total of 89 runs and became the first team to beat the Gujarat-based team in the IPL by less than 100 runs. With the bat, DC managed to take the total in less than nine overs. DC will be aiming for another win against GT as the latter will look to make the most of their winning momentum.

GT won the toss and elected to bowl first. At the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill said: “We will bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, we have been chasing well in the last few games. Means a lot to me (with 100 IPL games), we have come a long way, there is still a long way to go.”, but the focus is on today’s game, there will always be ups and downs, you will play like you’re good. DC captain Rishabh Pant said: “It’s a good throw to lose, we would have batted first anyway. We just talked about keeping things simple and just doing what we can do over a longer period of time. This wicket looks a little slower than the last game, Dew is playing one. “An important factor here is that there was no dew last time, hopefully there won’t be there tonight either. Two changes – David Warner sits out and Hope replaces him, Sumit Kumar replaces Lalit Yadav.”
