David E. Kelley keeps hope alive for another season for fans of Big little lies – but remain aware of the challenges that stand in your way.
The eleven-time Emmy winner walked the carpet a premiere of his new Netflix series, A man of perfectionon Wednesday at the TUDUM Theater in Los Angeles, and he spoke with ET’s Cassie DiLaura about a number of his beloved projects — including the hit HBO series That Fans are still hoping for a third season.
“A lot of people are talking about it,” Kelley said with a laugh when asked if a script has been written for a possible third season. “But it’s a very, very busy schedule.” [to make work].”
The acclaimed drama series stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole KidmanShailene Woodley, Laura DernAdam Scott, Zoë Kravitz and Meryl Streepto name a few.
“So if you could put all that talent together, everyone would love to do it, it’s a great team,” Kelley said. “[But] There are some logistical challenges until then.”
Ultimately, though, Kelley definitely hopes they’re able to come together and make it work.
Meanwhile, Kidman is working with Kelley again for the second season of Nine perfect strangers – in it she plays Masha Dmitrichenko, the founder of a new age resort who doesn’t mind using psychoactive hallucinogens as part of her health and wellness routines.
“I am sworn to secrecy and cannot reveal story points,” Kelley said. “But the microdosing is still ongoing, so the behavior will be wild.”
He also praised series star Kidman’s performance, quipping, “I think she’ll have a career if she sticks with it.” She’s pretty good.”
While fans wait for these projects, Kelley is preparing for the release of his new Netflix series. A man of perfection, which stars Jeff DanielsDiane Lane, William Jackson Harper, Tom Pelphrey and Lucy Liu.
In the series, Daniels plays Charlie Croker, a real estate tycoon who has to fight his way back to the top after bankruptcy and legal problems.
“It was much fun [to work on]Kelley shared. “It started with the book. The book was a lot of fun and I think the team that put it together really went for it.”
With Kelley as creator and showrunner, Oscar winner Regina King The experienced TV director Thomas Schmelze was hired as director and directed three episodes each.
“We had a lot of fun with Regina and Tommy directing and Jeff Daniels as Charlie Croker,” Kelley added.
