Danny DeVito Gives an Update on the New Film with Arnold Schwarzenegger

Danny DeVito provides an update on the long-awaited reunion with him Twins co-star, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Speaking to ET’s Denny Directo from the premiere of his new film: Pole manOn Wednesday, the 79-year-old actor revealed the top-secret project he and 76-year-old Schwarzenegger are working on.

“We really want to work together and have been talking about it for a while,” he said It’s always sunny in Philadelphia Star shared. “We’re working on something now, we’re currently writing a script.”

DeVito was hesitant to share any further details about what exactly the project will look like – including whether it will be a continuation of one of her previous collaborations Twins or 1994s Junior, but said they already had a big studio behind them.

“Once that arrives we’ll know better, but we’re going to do it at Warner Brothers, so here we go,” DeVito revealed.

Working with the former California governor again was a no-brainer, DeVito said, as the chemistry between them has been proven time and time again, both on screen and off. He told ET that he would work with Schwarzenegger until the end of time because they just “fit.”

“He’s a good buddy, you know? He’s just a good buddy. So you know, and we kind of fit together. We’re compatible, right?” he joked.

It was a year of reunions for the friends, who have starred in numerous films together over the decades. In February, the duo teamed up to film a Super Bowl commercial for State Farm, in which they starred as themselves in a parody action film that mocked the Austrian-born actor and politician’s pronunciation of “Neighbor.” .

The couple spoke to ET before the commercial aired during the big game and even shared details about a possible sequel Twinswhich they said at the time was in the works before director Ivan Reitman’s death in February 2022.

“When we lost Ivan, Rest His Soul, we were in the process of working with him again on a sequel TwinsDeVito said. “I think where my head is at – and I think Arnold is at the same point – we want to work together.” We want to make another film together, whether it’s a sequel or a new element that tells a different story. For us it just has to be good, funny and entertaining, fit our characters and what people want to see. And that is our goal.”

“In my opinion, the chemistry is there and you can’t compensate for that with acting or anything like that,” Schwarzenegger added. “It’s the most important thing – you have to like each other, respect each other and it just clicks. The following month, Schwarzenegger and DeVito appeared together at the 2024 Academy Awards and presented the trophy OppenheimerAwards: Jennifer Lame for outstanding editing. However, as a hilarious duo, they took a moment to joke about why the academy brought them together.

“Arnold and I are presenting together tonight for a very obvious reason,” DeVito said.

“We both tried to kill Batman,” Schwarzenegger joked in response, before launching into an anti-Batman tirade.

Schwarzenegger played Mr. Freeze in 1997 Batman and Robin, while DeVito portrayed Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot – also known as Penguin – in 1992 Batman returns. The actor said he has had discussions with Colin Farrell about taking up the mantle in the New series.

“I love Colin,” DeVito said. “Oswald takes many forms…I’m excited to see what he’ll do.”

While DeVito has incredible chemistry and friendships with Schwarzenegger and Farrell, they’re certainly not the only actors who work well with them Matilda Star.

“I loved working with him. He’s a really cool guy and knows what he’s doing,” DeVito said of Pine. “He’s a sweet person and we all had fun.”

The film follows a pool cleaner in LA who uncovers a water robbery and is asked by a femme fatale character to help stop the theft. The film also stars Annette Bening, DeWanda Wise And Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Pole man hits theaters on May 10th.
