Charli XCX says she has been working on new music for Britney Spearsalthough the “Toxic” singer denied rumors earlier this year.
In a current one See what’s happening live In this episode, Charli confirmed speculation that she was involved in writing music for Spears’ upcoming album, although the pop icon denied that “random people” contributed to her songs.
When asked by a virtual fan about her rumored collaboration with Spears, Charli initially responded with a playful equivocation, saying, “Um…so…yeah?”
“It was leaked to the press. Britney then wrote this post where she was like, ‘I don’t have random people writing for me,'” Charli explained during the After Show. “And I thought, ‘Oh. OK. Let’s go.’ So I don’t know if she was part of the process.
Although Charli went to Malibu to write songs with Spears’ team, he made it clear that Spears did not record the material. “The team was present… But she didn’t record it. “Obviously she didn’t record it,” she noted.
However, Charli XCX expressed her admiration for Spears, stating that it would be a “dream come true” for the pop icon to record her songs. Although Spears’ team reportedly wanted to reintroduce her to the music industry, Spears himself appeared to express his frustration with the rumors in a since-deleted Instagram post.
“Just so we’re clear, most of the news is rubbish!!!” Spears wrote in January. “They keep saying that I’m reaching out to random people to make a new album… I’ll never go back to the music industry!!!”

Spears – whose last music release was the “Tiny Dancer” remix “Hold Me Closer” with Elton John in 2021 – also seems unlikely to perform any of her older hits live any time soon. The last time she appeared on stage was on December 31, 2017, on the last night of her Las Vegas residency.
