Cara Delevingne Reflects on Her Sobriety: ‘If I Can Do It, Anyone Can’

Cara Delevingne used her own sobriety success to try to motivate others seeking help.

The model and the actress stunned on the red carpet At the 2024 Met Gala on Monday in New York City, where she wore a bejeweled, chainmail-inspired ensemble by Stella McCartney that really sparkled.

The 31 year old Carnival series Actress – the recently got candid about her journey to sobriety — spoke with diversity at the star-studded event and shared a meaningful message for others struggling with addiction: “You are not alone.”

“If I can do it, anyone can do it,” Delevingne added.

The actress said that honesty and self-realization are crucial to her when trying to get sober, explaining, “You have to communicate as much as possible and be honest about it – especially with yourself.”

Delevingne opened up about her battle with addiction for the first time FashionApril issue 2023where she first spoke about getting sober after reaching a turning point in September 2022.

This month, the model sparked public concern after she was photographed shoeless at a Los Angeles airport. At the time, she was returning from Burning Man and was filmed looking disheveled and riding in an SUV with her feet dangling out the window.

“I hadn’t slept. I wasn’t feeling well,” she said called back Fashion in 2023. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at one point I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t look good.'”

Delevingne added: “You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way these pictures were something to be grateful for.”

“Whether it’s being vocal about anxiety, depression, recovery, or anything else, you just owe it to people to talk about your struggles,” she told the outlet. “Because being in this world is not perfect. Nobody is perfect. To be honest, it’s the least I can do.”

Delevingne also spoke to ET at the Met Gala on Monday and explained the inspiration behind her unique and exciting look.

“It’s Joan of Arc meets ’60s Twiggy and lab-grown diamonds,” Delevingne said with a smile, before praising McCartney for her creative talents. “She has always been an inspiration to me.”
