On Tuesday’s episode of The Valley, viewers learned a little more about what led to Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s recent split.
As a reminder, the couple announced in late February that their four-year marriage was over… although there have since been some questions about the durability of that split.
“Jax and I are taking some time off and I’ve made the decision to move to a different home to make some space for my mental health,” Cartwright told podcast listeners at the time.
However, Taylor later expressed confidence that everything would work out.
On this week’s episode of the aforementioned Vanderpump Rules spinoff?
“When Jax and I first met, it was great. We had sex all the time, 24/7, and I mean we never missed a day,” Brittany said in a confessional.
“And then it changed dramatically. I’ve spoken twice in the last year.”
This episode was of course filmed some time ago. It’s hard to say exactly when it took place on Jax and Brittany’s trip.
“Where is my romantic night that you should plan for me?” Brittany once asked her spouse, making it clear that things were far from perfect.
Taylor, in turn, used the opening of Jax’s Studio City restaurant as an excuse for why he hadn’t gotten around to it yet.
“I didn’t realize this bar was going to take a lot of time,” he said. “I should have known that. There’s a lot going on right now.”
Brittany also admitted that parenthood has changed her dynamic, which just about every mom and dad in the world can relate to.
“Just put the child first for so long that they always come first, let’s be honest, but…” she said.
Yes, let’s be honest.
It’s much harder to feel sexy when kids are around, as well as finding time to be alone, making things exciting, seductive, etc.
“I feel like we need to set the schedule…” Jax later told a friend about sex with Brittany, adding that he used to want sex “three, four times a day, all day, every day,” and now Is it like we did this month?”
We refer again to the entire children’s point mentioned above.
Jax took at least some responsibility for the fact that his intimate life with Brittany had become boring.
“The romantic spark just isn’t there right now,” he said in a confessional.
“I will take the blame, yes, I let that spark fizzle out. It’s just not fair to any of us. Above all, it’s not fair to my wife because she deserves a man to love her.”
Cartwright hasn’t felt that in a while, though.
“I feel like I’ve been taken for granted and unappreciated for everything I’ve done over the last nine years,” Brittany previously told People magazine after filming wrapped on The Valley, referring referring to the time she was with her co-star before their wedding in June 2019.
“I take care of my toddler and also another toddler named Jax Taylor because I basically do everything for the house.
“I just want to feel valued and wanted by the person I’m married to.”
