The event begins on May 2nd at the Taj Lands’ End and promises to be a star-studded celebration of the style and talent of the Indian entertainment industry. This year’s ceremony goes beyond just the awards ceremony. Industry insiders and fans can also look forward to exciting panel discussions with prominent personalities.
Bollywood Hungama Style Icons 2024: Esha Gupta recalls being spotted bare-faced and makeup-free at the airport while paparazzi waited for Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani: ‘I looked like someone who woke up at 2 am; they looked fresh.”
Kicking off the fourth panel of the day are actors Esha Gupta, Kubbra Sait, Zareen Khan and Shalin Bhanot for the panel titled ‘The Paparazzi Effect: Is the New ‘Pap Culture’ Putting Pressure on the Style Quotient? PLUS airport looks and much more: How much is too much?”
In today’s world, celebrities are constantly under the watchful eye of paparazzi, whether in upscale restaurants or in airport terminals. This omnipresence begs the question: Does this constant scrutiny put undue pressure on celebrities to always maintain a flawless style quotient? The panelists delved deeply into this topic and examined the potential downsides of the “pap culture” phenomenon.
One could argue that the pressure to be photographed in trendy outfits can lead to a feeling of inauthenticity or a mismatch between a celebrity’s personal style and their public persona. The panelists likely discussed the importance of finding a balance between maintaining a stylish image and remaining true to individual fashion tastes.
The discussion also discussed the concept of the “airport look,” a phenomenon in which celebrities are photographed while traveling in carefully selected outfits. The panelists might have debated whether there is a fine line between expressing a personal style and succumbing to the pressure to project a particular image.
Another interesting aspect of the discussion may have been the discussion of the term “too much”. With social media constantly teeming with celebrity fashion moments, is there a risk of oversaturation? During the panel, Esha Gupta spoke about the look of the airport. I remember an incident where she didn’t call paparazzi but they were already at the airport as Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani were supposed to be traveling together during the shoot Jugjug Jeeyo. “I was traveling to Dubai on a 4am flight. Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani, their teams had called the paparazzi. I didn’t know her paparazzi were there and I’m being myself, wearing sweatpants, crop top and no makeup. I suddenly look at her and thought, “Oh my God!” I’m also wearing a mask because COVID-19 was still here. I still wear a mask. Varun and Kiara looked radiantly fresh and I looked like someone who actually took a flight at 2am and just woke up.”
She continued: “But you have to be okay with being seen and how you look. This way you appear confident and don’t take yourself too seriously.”
