• The driver of the Porsche apparently lost control and speared off the road.
  • Fortunately, the driver and passenger appear to have escaped without serious injuries.
  • Due to the extensive water damage, this 911 ends up straight at an auction or in a scrapyard.

Seriously, what is it about Porsches that are so bad these days? Are there a swimming pool shortage at Porsche dealers? Just days after a 911 GT3 RS crashed into a river in Washington state and a 993 Turbo was temporarily converted into a German submarine, another Porsche ended up in the drink, but this time in a canal.

A video of the incident was recently shared on a Reddit thread, but unfortunately we don’t have many details about the crash. We can see that the car in question is a 911 Cabriolet of some type and the video shows that the two occupants were not seriously injured in the accident.

A look at the scene of the accident shows that the driver of the sports car lost control, left the road, jumped a curb and crashed into a street sign. The Porsche then continued along a grassy strip before ramming into a canal, taking with it several wooden posts and destroying a small footbridge.

Luckily for the driver and passenger of the car, they were able to easily move away from the wreckage as the water is relatively shallow and the car did not sink completely below the surface.

We can’t see what visual damage the Porsche has suffered, but that doesn’t matter. Crucially, most of the car was submerged, which inevitably caused significant mechanical and electrical damage. This 911 will never be on the road again unless there is some brave YouTuber or influencer out there who thinks it’s a good idea to fix it for viewers.

Accidents like this are all too common, regardless of the type of vehicle involved. However, high-performance sports cars are more likely to experience such breakdowns because their drivers show poor judgment about their driving skills and/or the condition of the road – which can get them into serious trouble.
