Afghanistan Announce Their Squad Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Which Features Some New Talent

The final countdown of the T20 World Cup has already begun. And the most exciting time before the mega T20 tournament has started. Teams announce their squad for the T20 World Cup. After New Zealand, England and India, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has also announced its squad for the T20 World Cup. Some interesting new players have found their place in the World Cup squad.

Afghanistan have unveiled their 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to begin in the West Indies and the USA in June. Rashid Khan was appointed captain of the team and tasked with leading the spin attack alongside Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Nangyal Kharoti and the experienced Mohammad Nabi.

In the fast bowling department, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fareed Ahmad and Fazalhaq Farooq retained their places and provided the much-needed dimension of pace to the Afghanistan line-up. Among the promising talent, Nangyal Kharoti, who showed his potential with a commendable performance against Ireland, has earned his place in the squad. Additionally, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Ishaq, a product of the Afghanistan Under-19 team, secured his place following his appearances at the 2020 and 2022 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cups.

Afghanistan squad: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Ishaq, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan (c), Nangyal Kharoti, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul – Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Fareed Ahmad Malik.

Sediq Atal, Hazratullah Zazai and Saleem Safi will travel with the team as reserve players. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to rise on June 2nd. The West Indies and the USA are co-hosting the global tournament. Afghanistan will begin their T20 World Cup journey against Uganda on June 4.
