Abby Lee Miller gives fans a first look at their new one Dancing mothers spin off, Abby Lee Dance with me!
On Thursday, the controversial former reality TV star took to Instagram to release a brand new teaser trailer for the show, which the 58-year-old is marketing to her fan base as the ninth season of the hit Lifetime series that has made a name for dancers like Maddie Ziegler And JoJo Siwa.
“It was a cultural phenomenon that captured the attention of millions of viewers around the world,” Miller says in a voiceover at the start of the video. The sound of the dance teacher’s voice is played over excerpts from the Dancing mothers series that ended its run on Lifetime in September 2019.
While the teaser begins with clips of the original stars, including Mackenzie Ziegler and a noticeably blurry Christi Lukasiak, it quickly cuts to scenes from the newly filmed series, complete with new dancers and, of course, new mothers.
“All right, let’s do this,” Miller says to the new recruits. “Now, 12 years later after it all started, I’m back and better than ever.”
According to Miller, the show will follow her journey across the United States to find the next generation of unbreakable dancers to train into champions. To achieve this, she just needs to identify a handful of competitors who she believes have the talent and courage to achieve victory through their rigorous training – and constant criticism.
“I can’t wait to share this incredible talent with the world! A big hug goes out to all the wonderfully talented children chosen to take part in this show! I loved working with each and every one of you,” the dance teacher wrote in the caption of her post, adding the hashtags “Abby Lee Dance With Me” and “Season 9.”
Miller dropped one earlier Preview the show on their YouTube channel in December, showing just 40 seconds of the highly anticipated sequel to her beloved Lifetime series. Fans were immediately excited by the announcement that she would soon be returning to the screen to compete with dancers and their mothers. However, Miller has not yet announced the release date or where the show will be streamed.
In 2023, ET spoke to Miller about it her reality TV return and ambiguously described the then-unnamed show as a new iteration of Dancing mothers that “has nothing to do with this network.”
“It’s not like I’m going back. This is all new,” she shared. “It’s classic ‘Abby Lee Miller,’ but there are the little ones and their mothers, and the talent is crazy.”
The new show comes as Lifetime prepares to air more shows Dancing mothers own reporting in the form of a special reunion featuring most of the show’s original dancers and their mothers. Dance Moms: The Reunion airs May 1 and features appearances from Siwa, Kendall Vertes, Brooke and Paige Hyland, Chloe Lukasiak and Kalani Hilliker, as well as their respective mothers.
Those who chose not to attend included Nia Sioux and both Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, which the other girls bluntly addressed in a clip shared by ET last week. In the video, the girls and their mothers criticized the trio for choosing to skip the meeting and speculated about why they didn’t feel the need to show up to the event.
“I think everyone knows who isn’t here,” Kendall said while sitting next to her former cast members. “Maybe they just don’t think they need it.”
“They chose not to be here and at the end of the day they did several interviews [they] saying they don’t even want this in their lives,” said Kira Girard, Kalani’s mother.
JoJo – who conceivable has the best relationship with Miller Nearly five years after the show ended, she said she was upset that Nia, Mackenzie and Maddie chose not to take part, pointing to Kelly Hyland and her daughters as a prime example of why they should have shown up anyway. Kelly, Brooke and Paige memorably left the series in Season 4 after the mother got into a physical altercation with Miller.
“It’s kind of sad to see that because I look at, especially, how your kids are here, how you left the show and that you can come here and say, ‘Look, I’m still interested in this,'” “It’s really cool to see and it’s like you still care about your past,” JoJo said.
She added: “Them not being here is kind of like, ‘Let me erase my past, pretend it never happened and shove it down the drain,’ when it’s saying, ‘This is why you are who you are.’ are.”
Dance Moms: The Reunion airs May 1 on Lifetime.
