An additional 4.1 inches of length means 7 kWh more battery capacity for the Q6L e-tron and a range of 735 miles

The 2025 Audi Q6L e-tron aims for more legroom and 435 miles of range in China

  • Audi presented the longer version of the Audi Q6 with 4.1 inches more than the standard model.
  • The result is not only more legroom, but also a larger battery that promises a range of 435 miles.
  • Audi has also slightly revised the exterior design and promises more technology inside.

Executives in China like to be driven around and value rear seat legroom. Audi has been meeting these wishes for a long time with its extended L models, and the Q6L e-tron has been recently added. But because it’s electric, the extra length offers more than just legroom.

Audi unveiled the Q6L e-tron at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, showing only the exterior of the model, which is 4.1 inches (105 mm) longer than the standard Q6 e-tron.

The extra length not only gave passengers more legroom, but also allowed Audi engineers to cram more batteries under the crossover. The new Q6L gets 7 additional kWh of battery capacity compared to the standard Q6 e-tron, for a total of 107 kWh.

This means that with the Chinese CLTC standard, the Q6L e-tron (and SQ6 e-tron) can travel more than 435 miles (700 km) per charge, compared to 388 miles (625 km) for the shorter model. Thanks to the 800-volt technology, Audi’s latest electric vehicle can also charge with charging capacities of up to 270 kW.

Thanks to its fast charging capability, the new Q6L e-tron can regain up to 260 km of range in just 10 minutes at a suitable charging station and from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.

The batteries power a 342 hp (255 kW / 347 hp) motor on the rear-wheel drive model or two motors with a combined 463 hp (345 kW / 469 hp) on the dual-motor all-wheel drive models.

More than just long

On the outside, Audi added more than just 4 inches of bodywork to the Q6L e-tron. The model gets a new front apron with a gloss black finish for the “radiator grille” and a paint job that matches the side air intakes to make it appear wider. Audi is also promising exclusive paint colors for the model, including the Lilac Gray you see in these photos.

Additionally, the Q6L e-tron’s digital OLED taillights can communicate with other vehicles on the road. The “communication light” warns other drivers of accidents and breakdowns by displaying a static symbol.

The new Q6L e-tron will also receive an updated interior, with Audi promising that the interior will feature improved infotainment technology tailored to the Chinese market.

The German automaker has revealed that the Q6L e-tron will also feature a range of driver assistance features for the Chinese market. These include the Adaptive Driving Assistant Pro and Parking Assistant Pro, which are powered by the integrated lidar, radar, ultrasonic sensors and an array of cameras. The model will also feature V2X technology to help alert drivers about accidents and other hazards around them.

Audi plans to introduce the full, standard Q6L e-tron in the fourth quarter of 2024. Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2025. The model will be the first PPE-based electric vehicle produced in China when it enters production at Audi’s Changchun plant.
