The GWM Ora 07 was launched in Malaysia in early April this year, entering a competitive electric vehicle (EV) segment that includes comparable rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal. Buyers have two variants to choose from, starting with the base Long Range at RM169,800 on-the-go without insurance, while the Performance retails at RM189,800.

At this starting price, the Ora 07 is ahead of both the Model 3 (from RM181,000) and the Seal (from RM180,430). Every purchase comes with a six-year, 150,000km warranty and an eight-year, 180,000km battery and electric motor warranty. There is also a 1:1 replacement of the battery if its condition drops below 70% within the warranty period.

The variant featured in this video test is the Long Range, which is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor with an output of 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 340 Nm of torque for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds The top speed is 170 km/h. The electric motor is powered by an 83.5 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery (NMC), which ensures a range of up to 640 km according to the NEDC standard.

The Ora 07 supports DC fast charging with a maximum capacity of 88 kW, taking 32 minutes to reach the battery from a state of charge of 30-80%. Alternatively, there is AC charging with up to 11 kW, which takes 15 hours for a full charge. You also get a vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature that can output up to 3.3 kW to power devices.

Standard equipment on the Ora 07 includes 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a panoramic glass roof, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a wireless charging pad and dual-zone climate control with rear vents, head-up display, keyless entry and start, power front seats with ventilation and massage functions, ambient lighting, an 11-speaker Infinity sound system, a 360-degree camera and a hands-free tailgate.

Driver assistance systems include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering assistant, Intelligent Evade system that gives large vehicles such as trucks more lane space, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert with automatic Brake, traffic sign recognition, parking assistant and automatic high beam.
