During a performance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Tuesday, Anne Hathaway’s passionate rendition of a Clarkson hit struck the singer and talk show host – literally.
Hathaway and Clarkson were in the middle of a “Sing That Name That Tune” game, which required them to quickly identify themselves by their instruments and start singing as soon as they recognized them. Hathaway led the game, beating Clarkson to call Billy Joel’s classic “Piano Man,” as Hanson’s late’s 90s hit “MMMBop.”
“Can you play a freaking song I know?” a frustrated Clarkson told the studio band after losing a round.
The band then began playing the track for Clarkson’s anxious breakup anthem “Since You Been Gone”, which Hathaway immediately recognized. “Since you’re gone, I can breathe for the first time,” Hathaway sang at the top of her lungs before registering for Clarkson.

Clarkson fell to the floor in defeat when Hathaway composed the lyrics to her hit of the early 2000s.
“How exactly did you know that?” Clarkson said to Hathaway in disbelief.
“Kelly Clarkson, if you do not understand how much we all love that song,” Hathaway replied, adding that “everyone here knew” the song from the beginning.
Comedian and “American Ninja Warrior” host Matt Iseman, who hosts the game, joked that Hathaway “will do a Kelly Clarkson tribute show in Vegas,” to which Clarkson replies, “Should I just stop?”
